The PAC 10 expansion groundswell

I've been rethinking the Rivalry's future. How many BCS schools play and trade home and home annually with a non-BCS school? Would 2/1 SLC/Provo be okay with you guys? I'm wondering why we'd give you 1/1; what's in it for us.

Utah is going to have to pay BYU a decent amount for future games. I am not sure if Utah will be able to afford 2/1s with BYU. The power conference big boys have to pay to have the sacrificial lambs come to them. I doubt with being only a partial financial member for the next few years that Utah will be able to afford games with the likes of BYU or TCU. Say hello to Montana, Idaho and Weber State.

You are probably right. In addition to the financial considerations, there will be the embarrassment factor when BYU kicks Utah's ass repeatedly.

I agree with your earlier post. I'd say the Pac-10 is split about 50-50 on Utah at best. Certainly not the everyone is happy about the expansion and venues that SU thinks. I especially agree that if the Pac-10 could take a mulligan they would and stand pat at 10.

Like you would know. Colorado was happier to get out of the Big 12. Colorado won an national championship in the nineties, beating some top teams and winning the Big 12. It has a lot more market power than BYU, and is really better than half the Big 12 and half the Pac 10 schools in just about any way you can think of except basketball. Of course they are happy to get out of the Big-12. They are bottom-feeders.

You and I both know that the only two sports that count are football and basketball. Please make me a list of the six teams in the Big 12 and PAC 10 that are worse than CU in football. They finished 2-6 in each of the last two years.

Come on. You really need some new material. You are deliberately ignoring the fact that I am a Longhorn fan too. And I said in my post that I think the PAC-10 would have been wise to stay at ten teams, even if BYU was in the mix. I have always said that. Again, search the archives if you don't believe me.

Don't kid yourself. The biggest reason Utah will be reluctant to play BYU every year is because BYU is too strong of a non-conf opponent to play so frequently. Get ready for New Mexico State, San Jose State, Eastern Washington, etc.

Uh, we have had home and homes with USC, GA Tech, UCLA, FSU and we have them scheduled with Oregon State. Those are just recent ones off the top of my head.
