At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Lower east side of Salt Lake. I was pretty much accepted by the well-off kids, though, and got to go the Country Club once. I even had shoes most of the time.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostExactly the response I'd expect from a country clubber from the avenues.

Who's the better coach, Kyle Whittingham or Jim Fassel?Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostAs much as I like Kyle and as good of coach that I think he is, it is hard to compare what he has done in the MWC to what coaches have done in better conferences. His W/L record is helped by playing pathetic competition 7 or 8 games a year. There are many reasons why Gary Patterson, Mike Petterson, Kyle Whittingham and Bronco Mendanhall have the top winning percentage over the past 5 years and the 7 to 8 dogs on their schedule each year is a big part of it.
I personally think that Kyle is in the top tier of coaches in the Pac-10 and his resume is a great one. Two coaches that come to the top of my head as being more proven than Kyle are Monte Kiffen and Mike Riley. Now Kiffen's resume is built off of being a successful D Coordinator in the NFL and not as a head coach but he has been on top at the top level of football. Not many can say that. Also, what Mike Riley has done in Corvallis is pretty damn impressive.
Obviously, Kyle is the better college coach, but Fassel had success in the NFL, both as a coordinator and as a head coach.Last edited by Flattop; 07-02-2010, 10:37 AM.Col. Klink: "Staff officers are so clever."

So when you say "lower east side", are we talking Yale Ave? Or more like Michigan Ave?Originally posted by LA Ute View PostLower east side of Salt Lake. I was pretty much accepted by the well-off kids, though, and got to go the Country Club once. I even had shoes most of the time.

Damnit. Can't you people keep this all in one thread. I'm getting confused.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostI don't think Utah does. I've said that over and over. I'm just raising a question about statements like this one by Gordon Monson:
I'm just wondering if that's simply a commonly-held belief or is based on some decent data.

So who drew better, Utah or Rice? That's the real question.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostUCLA averaged 64,955 per home game in 2006, and 76,378 in 2007. So Utah was nearly 6k below the average for a home schedule which featured Rice, Stanford, Arizona, Washington State, Oregon State, and USC. BYU was 3k below the average for a home schedule which featured Washington, Notre Dame, No. 12 ranked Cal, No. 9 ranked Oregon, and ASU.

1632 Blaine Avenue, 84105. Find it on Google Maps. (My late mom moved out in about 2000. The current owners ruined the place.)Originally posted by ERCougar View PostSo when you say "lower east side", are we talking Yale Ave? Or more like Michigan Ave?

No, the real question is when Utah played at Stanford recently, how far below the average Standard home attendance was the Utah game as compared to how far below the season average the BYU game attendance was.Originally posted by USS Utah View PostSo who drew better, Utah or Rice? What?! Utah hasn't played at Stanford recently?! So why are we even discussing them? Oh yeah, because Ute fans want to compare apples to oranges to prove their point.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
