You said nothing wrong. i was in sacramento a few weeks ago and spoke quite a bit to a cal alum. he told me that he was excited for a cal/utah rivalry, and has felt that way since urban and co beat cal in 2003.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI experience nothing but this kind of reaction. The Pac 10 knew what it was doing, and, as AA said, the die was cast for a long time. Now they are working out the details, but everyone is happy and excited about the expansion and new venues.

Probably. But then again I have this feeling your definiton of rape and pillage will mean 8 wins. So maybe not.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostYou'll really get an increase on that sentiment after Utah rapes and pillages that league in 2011."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Since the discussion has turned from "it'll never happen" to "it should never have happened," and "Utah won't win anything notable in the PAC," I'd like to remind everyone that our very own UtahDan predicted this trajectory nearly four months ago.Originally posted by Surfah View PostProbably. When this occurs the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth will be epic. It will put what happened after the Sugar Bowl to shame. And just like the Sugar Bowl, with in a couple of months it will be pathetically claimed that it is not significant. But the air is already pregnant around here with the looming disappointment and shattering of paradigms that approaches. I can seriously hardly wait. There will be blood this summer.

lol. Nice extrapolation there. If that were a prophesy from an LDS GA, and this were the fulfillment, something tells me you'd be fairly skeptical about its vagueness. But I suppose it is your right to pick and choose the level of prophetic fulfillment you'll accept depending on the topic of the prophecy.Originally posted by Solon View PostSince the discussion has turned from "it'll never happen" to "it should never have happened," and "Utah won't win anything notable in the PAC," I'd like to remind everyone that our very own UtahDan predicted this trajectory nearly four months ago.

Now that I think about it, you guys must be pretty disappointed with how most BYU fans have taken this in stride. But go ahead and keep biting on the empty hooks we throw out. I take no satisfaction in watching BYU fans struggle to face their school's imminent athletic irrelevance. My wife, brother, and many of my friends are BYU alums and fans.
Well, maybe a little satisfaction. But only once in awhile.

I have the same respect for this expectation as I do for the BYU fan's expectation of Utah's imminent demise in the PAC-12.Originally posted by Solon View PostIt's prophecy to me.

I've been rethinking the Rivalry's future. How many BCS schools play and trade home and home annually with a non-BCS school? Would 2/1 SLC/Provo be okay with you guys? I'm wondering why we'd give you 1/1; what's in it for us.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI agree with your earlier post. I'd say the Pac-10 is split about 50-50 on Utah at best. Certainly not the everyone is happy about the expansion and venues that SU thinks. LOL. And nothing of Top Ute's prophecy? I actually have to agree again with Donuthole. There was some wailing and gnashing of teeth early, but certainly no bloody summer. And I don't think I said anything particularly incendiary or smacking of anything you're trying to infer here. It's cool that a couple fans of Pac-10 schools said something nice to SU and Orange Ute. But I think that speaks more to the
fact that most people are generally nice than the overwhelming attitude of what fans think of the expansion.
Do you really believe that BYU athletics are about to be irrelevant?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

What are you basing your opinion on? Certainly not logic. The usual stuff, no doubt.Originally posted by Surfah View PostLOL. And nothing of Top Ute's prophecy? Rape and pillage are strong words.

Have you wever heard of "due dilligence"? Your belief that the Pac 10 hasn't known what it is doing all along before and after it acquired Utah is funny and quaint.

Maybe you can work out those 8 home games with Top Ute while you're at it.
Seriously, Utah would be foolish to continue the rivalry no matter the terms. I agree that there is nothing in it for you. Consequently, I'd feel the same way if it were BYU in Utah's shoes. This is the primary thing that bothers me the most about being in different conferences, the death of the rivalry. But it sounds like you have a good one going with Cal already."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I'm basing this after my jog the other day when I was wearing a BYU shirt and a USC fan said we would have rather had you than Utah or CU.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostWhat are you basing your opinion on? Certainly not logic. The usual stuff, no doubt.

You know, I think a UCLA or Stanford or Cal or Oregon or Oregon State or Washington or Washington State fan would have carried a little weight.
