Kemba 5th? 18ppg on 41% shooting? No thanks, especially not with Thomas putting up better numbers across the board.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

FIFY. Not sure who that guy was from year 1 because he never played, but what I do know is that throughout his career, whenever he has played the most minutes he has played very good basketball. Maybe the guy from year 1 was really good - we'll never know.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostAlec Burks in year 3: career highs in scoring rate, assist rate, assists p/40, TS%, usage, PER and easily playing the best ball of his career
Klay Thompson in year 3: still the same player he was in year 1 across the board.
Maybe if we played Burks 36 mpg last year and 38 mpg this year we could get back the guy from year 1 that was never on the floor with four other guys.I'm like LeBron James.

Of course you know who the guy from year 1 is -- you've been talking about him non-stop since. I also know who he was; he did a lot of good things (attack to the hoop, get to the line) and lot of bad things (played offense and defense like he was the guard version of Big Al). I also know this: everyone has bitched about his minutes and how a lack of minutes was stunting his development, and yet here he is in year 3, a vastly improved player from where he was in either year 1 or year 2. OTOH, Klay Thompson, who has received the kind of minutes everyone has wanted to see for Burks because of miracle it would have on his progress, hasn't improved at all. There's more than one way to skin a cat.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostFIFY. I'll refute this argument, but don't have time right now. The point: Corbin's handling of Burks has had nothing to do with improving his game, rather simply because he wasn't willing to sit more veteran players despite Burks being the better player.Originally posted by MarkGrace View Posteveryone has bitched about his minutes and how a lack of minutes was stunting his development, and yet here he is in year 3, a vastly improved player from where he was in either year 1 or year 2. Compare their eFG% stats and the discrepancy merely grows. Same with Simple Rating.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostBatting average called and wants its field goal percentage back!

Sure. Just had to point out that ppg on fg% doesn't mean anything on its own.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostCompare their eFG% stats and the discrepancy merely grows. Same with Simple rating, PER, or whatever advanced metric you want to use.

I really wish ESPN would include some advanced metrics on its statistics pages.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostSure. Just had to point out that ppg on fg% doesn't mean anything on its own.

No you won't. You can run around in circles on a bunch of stuff, but it will just be a waste of time. We know the following: Burks has been handled a certain way and is clearly a better player three years into his career; Thompson has been handled the way people wanted to see out of Burks, and he's not any better. Anything else will be speculation that you'll kill too much time on, won't really show anything, and will be time you wish you could get back.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI'll refute this argument, but don't have time right now. Can we get back to the struggles of MY favorite Jazz player? Geez! I had high hopes that the offseason had taught D-Fav a plethora of moves on the offensive end. So far it's turn baseline and baby hook.
That said, the Jazz are batting .000 when he's out of the lineup this season. Defense baby!"Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

So you are going to be able to prove that if Burks had played more minutes, he'd be even better? This should be good!Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostThere will be no speculation in my argument. It will be based on facts. So Russell...what do you love about music?
