Kanter is a 4 and Favors is a 5. Assuming Kanter is any good, having someone like Al who can play both positions will make for a pretty nice 3-man rotation up front. That's one thing that makes him more valuable than Sap, as Sap is pretty much relegated to playing the 4.Originally posted by Maximus View Postwhy? jefferson takes the same position as Kanter and Favors, no?Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Jefferson can play the 4 or the 5 as can Kanter and Favors. DH gave a good explanation as well in regard to the position topic, but another, more simple reason you take Jefferson over Millsap is that Jefferson is a better basketball player. All things being equal, you take big over small, so even if Millsap were as good - and he's not - you still keep Jefferson.Originally posted by Maximus View Postwhy? jefferson takes the same position as Kanter and Favors, no?I'm like LeBron James.

Not sure if anyone's posted or seen anything, but AK is out until January from what some reports have said. So with that news being said, it solidifies the fact that we need to cut ties with him. Let's move on and get Battier or Tayshaun Prince. AK is too injury prone anyway, Tayshaun Prince played all 82 games for 5 straight seasons until 2009-2010, but played 78 last year (and probably was due to the Kuester protest thing).

January isn't that far away. But yesterday @tribjazz reported that he was given an initial prognosis of being out 2-3 weeks with a shoulder injury and he's already about 7 days into that rehab. The main issue is just a broken nose, and AK said he could play w/the nose right now but doesn't like the idea of playing with a mask. So I don't think he's out until January.Originally posted by UtahJazzFan88 View PostNot sure if anyone's posted or seen anything, but AK is out until January from what some reports have said. The answer, to me, isn't as obvious or as easy as others are making it sound. Both are under contract for 2 more years and Jefferson is making twice as much as Millsap. During the next 2 years, the Jazz is not going to come anywhere close to competing for a championship. So, while I presume some people think Jefferson gives us the best chance to win more games, I'd suggest that there is not much evidence for that proposition, but more importantly, so what?Originally posted by Maximus View Postwouldyou rather give up jefferson or milsap?
I think the two most important factors in deciding which, if either, gets traded are:
1) for whom will the Jazz get the most value in return?
2) Who would be the best help to the development of the younger post players?
I don't know the answer to the first question. On the one hand, Millsap is a much better value, so there will be more teams willing to trade for him. OTOH, Jefferson is a bigger player who can create his own points in the paint, and that is a skill some teams need and not as common as Millsap's skills. One other consideration here is that Jefferson's salary could be a burden if the Jazz had the opportunity to acquire a big-time player. I'm sure that evern most who said they prefer to trade Millsap would change their mind in a heartbeat if they knew that they could trade Jefferson for a borderline all-star guard or wing.
As to the second question, Jefferson is a ball hog, so I think he will impede the progress of the young guys. And while being a pretty good shot blocker, his defense is otherwise pretty bad, and I'm not sure he makes the team better overall.
Obviously, you need to deal with Memo also. One of the three needs to me moved immediately.

These are the exact questions I was considering when answering Sap.1) for whom will the Jazz get the most value in return?
2) Who would be the best help to the development of the younger post players? So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Deron's hair is looking thicker. I wonder if he's using GLH.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Even still, January is only a month away basically, but it's AK who's injury prone to me, I'd rather get Shane Battier or Tayshaun Prince.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostJanuary isn't that far away. I'd rather get a player 6-8 years younger with more talent. Anybody know Dwill's stats for besiktas? How long did he play over there?
I remember listening to the radio over the summer and Britton Johnson was a guest and stated that if Dwill played for 2 months in Turkey, he would run down the street in a BYU speedo (or something like that)...

He scored 50 in a game the other night. I also read that he was averaging 6.8 apg, which is crazy high under European rules.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostAnybody know Dwill's stats for besiktas? How long did he play over there?
