This is exactly how this season should be going...
Alec Burks mpg splits: 26.0, 27.8, 29.7 (with Hayward out), 24.1
Derrick Favors: 31.7, 30.8, 30.1, 26.7
Enes Kanter: 30.1, 21.6, 22.8, 23.0
Not losing enough, not playing the young guys enough...hell, should've just paid Millsap $10 M per and gone for that 8th seed.

I couldn't figure out what Kanter did last night to play so few minutes. He came in scored 6 quick points had one normal defensive breakdown and out he goes. Caveman was killing it against Favors anyway so why not shake up the rotation? And hot damn if Alec Burks doesn't make the Jazz watchable. He's good for about 3 "wows" a game now. Early in the season I didn't think I'd be saying that."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault
"Once I seen the trades go down and the other guys signed elsewhere," he said, "I knew it was my time now." - Derrick Favors

The only way to get this team to lose more is more time for JLuIII. You have a point about minutes for the young guys.Originally posted by BGRTHNUMEGO View PostThis is exactly how this season should be going...

Dude is one of the worst defenders I've ever seen, right up there with Jefferson. I don't mind a coach trying reinforce positive behavior at a point when a player is still learning (Redick had some good comments about this from experiences earlier in his career). Dude has to make changes now or the bad habits become too ingrained.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostI couldn't figure out what Kanter did last night to play so few minutes. To begin with, everything.

Sadly your are correct. And I didn't want that to sound like I was giving him a pass for terrible defense it's just it didn't seem as agregious as some other times. A new coach can hopefully change his behavior before it's too late.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostDude is one of the worst defenders I've ever seen, right up there with Jefferson. The #'s on Enes this year are staggeringly bad. But maybe he's just like Trey and he's trying to help Utah land Jabari.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostDude is one of the worst defenders I've ever seen, right up there with Jefferson. But maybe Corbin should try getting him on the court in better situations instead of maybe using the playing time carrot (which I think is giving Corbin way too much credit). Kanter is only seeing the court a handful of minutes per game with Favors, and even fewer with Favors and Trey at the same time. 22 mpg for a guy with Kanter's offensive ability in a throwaway year? How about coach the guy up (that hard to even type that knowing what thread this is) instead of only using playing time as a supposed motivator to improve defensive effort? Lots of young guys with promising careers are abysmal defenders their first few years in the NBA. And lots of those remain poor defenders forever, like 70% of the players in the league. But sometimes guys just need to be on the court a lot, in lots of different situations against lots of different players.

Still in your head, I see. Maybe It'll fester to the point that you'll take your ball and go home again. I'm not as cleverly condescending as SU but if he can cause you to have a mental breakdown while showing everyone what a bitch you truly are maybe one day I can do the same. Sure, we'd all be stuck not knowing the last 3 schools some 16 year old straight-to-mission kid has chosen but I think we'd all get along just fine.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostStill being racist I see.

I'm wondering what Kanter's projected minutes were to hit those numbers. Obviously, his rebounds are the biggest "miss" from any of these projections, and that is something that is going to be off even factoring minutes in. That and maybe Favors projected points. Hayward, it what feels like has been a disappointing year (maybe I'm skewed by the last few weeks) has strongly surpassed projections for REB & AST.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostActual stat lines as of today.
Burke - 12.6, 3.1, 5.6
Burks - 13.2, 3.2, 2.6
Hayward - 16.3, 5.5, 5.0
Favors - 13.2, 9.2, 1.1
Kanter - 11.6, 6.2, 0.8
Definitely interesting. Thanks for pulling that back up.
