One thing I find interesting, at least in terms of my own expectations, when reading the predicted numbers, I assumed Hayward, Favors, Burks and Kanter would be well over 30 minutes a game. Perhaps 33-36. Hayward is really the only one of the four to play the number of minutes I hoped for and expected. Burke is also about where I expected him to be in terms of minutes.I'm like LeBron James.

Hayward is being given the chance now and what is happening is exactly what the Jazz were afraid of; he's great when he's not the number 1. Disappointing but obvious. I sure hope O'Conner doesn't feel the need to double down by overpaying. My hope is Lindsey is truly in charge and does the right thing for the long term.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostOne thing I find interesting, at least in terms of my own expectations, when reading the predicted numbers, I assumed Hayward, Favors, Burks and Kanter would be well over 30 minutes a game. I don't think the Jazz were afraid of this. Heck, I think it's possible they were hoping for this so they could slot him into 2nd/3rd guy money.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostHayward is being given the chance now and what is happening is exactly what the Jazz were afraid of; he's great when he's not the number 1. I still think some team is going to overpay him, and Jazz management will feel the need to match it. The Celtics come to mind.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI don't think the Jazz were afraid of this. Certainly possible. In fact your scenario is much more likely because the Jazz appear to be fixated on the wing players in this year's draft. I do think they would have been pleased to pay more this year had he proven to be a #1 though (which is different than saying the Jazz were afraid of his failure obviously).Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI don't think the Jazz were afraid of this. They are? How could we know that other than Chad Ford thinks they'd pick Jabari #1? In any case, the Jazz appear unlikely to be drafting in the top 4. Last night and tonight would have been 2 really good loses to bad teams.Originally posted by Blueintheface View Postthe Jazz appear to be fixated on the wing players in this year's draft.

They both play multiple positions. Hayward can switch between 2 and 3, while Jabari can probably play 3 or 4 at the next level (though Jabari can probably play any position in college and has played the 5 some for duke).Originally posted by byu71 View PostDoes Jabari play the same position as Hayward? I vascilate back and forth on Hayward. Probably natural as he seems to vascilate back and forth from being outstanding to a bit above average.

Yep, Jabari can play the 3 or the 4 on offense and can't defend any position, so I'm not sure it matters where they put him. Put him out there, tell him to score and rebound and hope the other team doesn't attack him too often.Originally posted by Jacob View PostThey both play multiple positions. His shooting issues continue but in the last game 2 games at least he understood he wasn't going to shoot his way out of it and did just about everything else very well, even attacking the basket now and again.Originally posted by byu71 View PostDoes Jabari play the same position as Hayward? As I have said I have no expertise, just questions and opinions that may not be sound. With that premise, isn't that what we said about Kirelinko (sp)? He had so many abilities that he was worth all that money.Originally posted by Blueintheface View PostHis shooting issues continue but in the last game 2 games at least he understood he wasn't going to shoot his way out of it and did just about everything else very well, even attacking the basket now and again.

Jabari and Kirilenko are pretty much polar opposites.Originally posted by byu71 View PostAs I have said I have no expertise, just questions and opinions that may not be sound. Even as the $1 draft pick, Jabari would "only" start at just over $5m per year. But Jabari is bound to be a very successful NBA player. All the other top picks also have short-comings. I agree with many commentators, that Jabari is the most "sure thing" while 2 other guys might have a little more potential.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostJabari and Kirilenko are pretty much polar opposites.

Sure. My point was didn't we pay Kirelenko big bugs because people said he could do more than one thing well? Or do you mean one of them can do a lot of things well and the other can do only one or two things really well?Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostJabari and Kirilenko are pretty much polar opposites.
