I agree that the people do not care about football west, that is why the P10 would be so interested in adding Texas and sweetening the pot to get them in.

Can the P10 match the SEC's TV deal? No. You are right about that. However the P10 allows local TV deals for each school, so Texas would still have that, and there is nothing to say that the P10 wouldn't offer some major incentives to get Texas.

Like I said above many conference transfers were considered pipe dreams, some of them happen others don't.

The SEC schools all recruit Texas a lot harder than the P10 schools do, how much will it hurt Texas to lose 15 or so recruits a year to a combined LSU, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn and Florida? If Texas football return to 6-6, 7-5 years a lot of those LSN subscribers drop out. One example of a disadvantage of the SEC.

That cuts both ways though doesn't it? Now they can go deeper into Florida and perhaps even keep some kids at home who had designs on playing in the SEC simply because of conference affiliation.

Interesting he said "at least one of which meets the academic standards of the Pac-10". Colorado and Utah both certainly do from all I've read. So which school might it be that doesn't? Maybe DDD was right after all. Maybe money is talking.

ESPN College guys saying that Kansas could be a team that the PAC 10 is looking at in addition to Colorado and Utah. Gilmore seemed incredulous that Utah would work.

My guess is that you are right. (WSU and Arizona State are not AAU schools either. Maybe Oregon State too. I believe there are three non AAU members in the PAC-10.)
