  • Alright attorneys and spin folks.

What good comes of releasing a letter like this:

Translation - Hey fans, we did everything we could to keep this gravy train rolling, but OU, Texas, and some others said sorry, we are probably gone. Don't blame us if we end up in the MAC!

        Rumors confirmed.
        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yes, this translates into some good smoke at this point. That means there probably is a fire.

I don't get why they would do this otherwise. Actually I still don't get why they would say anything other than: The Big 12 is great! There is nothing to see here. Everything is just baseless speculation at this point. Everything is rosy.

You don't need to say anything, let alone publicly panic.

Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee told Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany on April 20 that he had spoken with Texas president William Powers about the Longhorns joining the Big Ten, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
"I did speak with Bill Powers at Texas, who would welcome a call to say they have a 'Tech' problem," Gee told Delany in one of many emails obtained by the Dispatch after a public-records request for documents and correspondence related to Big Ten expansion.
Ohio State declined to clarify what Gee meant by "Tech problem," telling the Dispatch that the records request did not require the school to elaborate on the email.
Gee was almost certainly referring to Texas Tech, one of three publicly funded Texas schools in the Big 12. The other two are Texas and Texas A&M, both of which are members of the Association of American Universities (AAU). Membership in the AAU, an alliance of prestigious research schools, is a key criterion for the Big Ten as it looks at expansion candidates.
Sounds like Texas has happy feet. ISU has good reason to worry.

                • Okay, this is real as real gets without the invites being made public as far as I am concerned. Monday should be fun with the PAC opening conference talks tomorrow.

So you didn't want Utah in the Pac 12? What was with all the Pie talk then?

Well, Utah and Colorado in the PAC made sense geographically. If this PAC 10- Big 12 raid goes off the way it's being described, we'll be looking at mega-conferences that have nothing to do with geography. Call me a romantic, but that's one thing I have always liked about college sports. The way things are going college sports will be just like professional sports. Yuck.

                              • One thing I will say about the PAC 10.. When they look to expand they really swing for the fences..

The Big Ten could learn a lot about what the PAC 10 is trying to do.. They just showed that stiring the expansion talk for months without real intent to go after big players will only weaken your conference..

I wonder how the Big Ten will respond to this.. They just got school'd in the expansion arena by the PAC 10..
