They arrested some 21 yr old Air Guardsman for the leakOriginally posted by myboynoah View PostSeems like there is well enough information in this article to figure out the identity of "OG". No matter the name, he is most definitely a small time Uncle Rico type who impressed a bunch of teenager gamers.
Leaker of U.S. secret documents worked on military base, friend says
What a group of idiots.
I'm very, very grateful I no longer work in a SCIF. I have a feeling that ii is just about to become impossible to get anything done.
After the Manning and Snowden fiascos procedures became very, very tight. I have a feeling they are going to get even more tight,
I may be small, but I'm slow.

A little bit crazy that this kid had access to what he did. Maybe procedures need to get a lot tighter. Or clearance needs to be a lot harder to get. Or better definitions/restrictions on what access is granted at various clearance levels. Of all of it.Originally posted by happyone View PostThey arrested some 21 yr old Air Guardsman for the leak

Somebody's head needs to roll, not just the arrestees. From personal experience, there are so many procedures/regs that had to have been overlooked, deliberately gone around it isn't even funny.
Unfortunately, as long as people are involved, something will eventually go wrong.

That's a bad leak and he should face serious consequences.Originally posted by happyone View Post

No, Grandpa Joe said it wasn’t that bad. The leaked documents just showed that Ukraine is losing the war, something like 7 Ukrainians were being killed for every Russian, NATO troops are in Ukraine, and stepping up the efforts is just making it worse. It is like what was being said about the Vietnam war when there was a leak about it even through our government kept telling us it was going great. History is just repeating itself but killing off all these Russians and Ukrainians is helping with the global warming problem so let’s keep throwing money at this war.Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

Andrew P. Napolitano Special to the USA TODAY Network
April 13, 2023
[...]
In all, about 50 documents appear to have been printed off a computer and taken out of a secure federal facility and then photographed. The photos were then uploaded to various internet sites. The essence of the revelations is that Russia is killing seven Ukrainian troops for every one of its own that Ukrainians are killing, Ukrainian air defenses are projected to collapse totally by the end of next month, and the U.S. has excellent sources of Russian military plans, so good that the Pentagon is able to inform its Ukrainian counterparts of Russian troop movements and air assaults before they occur.
Do the math. A 7-to-1 kill ratio is a slaughter that cannot endure much longer. So, when Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin tells the Senate Armed Services Committee he expects Ukraine to do well militarily this spring and next winter, how can he reconcile his statements to that kill ratio?

This is a fantastic post because I know it means things, but I don't know what those things are, yet I still kind of get the message.Originally posted by Copelius View Post
Kid can come straight out of HS and go through basic and AIT to get the 35F (intel analyst) MOS. That MOS comes with a TS clearance so 21 is not unusual for a SP4 to have that kind of access. My then 96B when I was Bn S2 was probably 20 or 21 and since it was an FA Bn, he was the only intel trained soldier in my section.

Kid can come straight out of high school and go through basic combat training and advanced individual training for a specicif job to get the 35F (intel analyst designation code) military occupational specialty. That military occupational specialty comes with a top secret security clearance so 21 is not unusual for a Specialist (E4, the highest non-noncommissioned rank, which is about as automatic as you can be based on time in the Army) to have that kind of access. My then 96B (what the 35F was in 2000) when I was Battalion Intelligence Office was probably 20 or 21 and since it was an Field Artillery Battalion, he was the only intel trained soldier in my section (the rest of us were trained in FA MOSs).“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

Ted, that is a radically different number. Are you sure Napolitano is right? Logic would say if it was true Russia was killing so many more, then with their already massive advantage in overall numbers they wouldn't be sitting bogged down in ww1 type trenches in far eastern Ukraine for this many months. They aren't doing that because it's fun. Critical thinking, friend.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostLast edited by BlueK; 04-14-2023, 07:54 AM.
