Yes, quite possible he got it from someone with higher clearance somehow.

SPC Manning was a 22 year old when she leaked TS documents. Not sure what controls were put in place (not my lane) but they are probably rethinking how they control access as we speak. I was told not to speculate, so this is about as much as I'll say.

I see a lot of idiots on Twitter (including Elon Musk) claiming that the media are hypocrites for saying that "Democracy dies in darkness" and then working to expose who leaked the documents. This is stupid. Both the leaked documents and how they were leaked are news worthy events that should be investigated. Also, claiming that a free media is essential for democracy doesn't equate to condoning the exposure of top secret documents. Dummies

Kid can come straight out of HS and go through basic and AIT to get the 35F (intel analyst) MOS. That MOS comes with a TS clearance so 21 is not unusual for a SP4 to have that kind of access. My then 96B when I was Bn S2 was probably 20 or 21 and since it was an FA Bn, he was the only intel trained soldier in my section.

Yep. Lots of young officers, NCO's and junior enlisted do high level work. The US military model has tremendous strengths over that of our Russian counter-parts. Interestingly enough, China is copying the US model.
