Back in the late nineties, he was a famous hacker and actually had a pretty cool website featuring him in a Flash animated movie. It was actually good stuff. He was one of the original social media influencers and a cyber security guru. The U.S. has trying to extradite him for years. I haven't kept up with him but he became very wealthy and now lives in New Zealand.

How sad when someone has to go to the furthest, darkest reaches of Twitter in order to scratch their idiotic confirmation bias.

Imagine if the Kim Dotcom--Uncle Ted--Gary Johnson-type isolationists had held sway in the late 30’s and early 40’s and the U.S. had remained out of WW II (which, again, the isolationists would have loved). There would have been no Manhattan Project and the Third Reich would have developed nuclear weapons and its rocketry program unimpeded. What a wonderful world we could have lived in. Believing that giving even an inch to autocrats bent on expansionism is a good idea is reprehensible.

Fraud charges. I'm not defending the guy but twenty years ago he was considered one of the top cyber security guys on the planet. He's not dumb in his field but his politics are a little out there.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

This is definitely the guy we should be turning to for commentary on US international relations:Originally posted by Shaka View Post

Dotcom has always denied wrongdoing and that he should ever face trial in the United States. “I never lived there, I never traveled there I had no company there, But all I worked for now belongs to the U.S.,” he wrote in a pinned tweet back in March 2015."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

NATO soldiers fighting in Ukraine?
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65245065Ukraine war: Leak shows Western special forces on the ground
[...]
According to the document, dated 23 March, the UK has the largest contingent of special forces in Ukraine (50), followed by fellow Nato states Latvia (17), France (15), the US (14) and the Netherlands (1).
The document does not say where the forces are located or what they are doing.
The numbers of personnel may be small, and will doubtless fluctuate. But special forces are by their very nature highly effective. Their presence in Ukraine is likely to be seized upon by Moscow, which has in recent months argued that it is not just confronting Ukraine, but Nato as well.

Seems like there is well enough information in this article to figure out the identity of "OG". No matter the name, he is most definitely a small time Uncle Rico type who impressed a bunch of teenager gamers.
Leaker of U.S. secret documents worked on military base, friend says
What a group of idiots.
Thousands of military personnel and government employees around OG’s age, working entry-to-low-level positions, could plausibly have access to classified documents like the ones he allegedly shared, according to U.S. officials and experts who have seen the documents reported in the media. Despite what his young followers thought, OG would have had no special knowledge compared with his peers. He possessed no special power to predict events. Rather, he appears to have persuaded some highly impressionable teenagers that he’s a modern-day gamer meets Jason Bourne.
The member said he’s confident the authorities will find OG. But when they do, he won’t be charged. Instead, he believes, OG will be imprisoned without due process at Guantánamo Bay or disappeared to a “black site,” if he’s not “assassinated” for what he knows.
The member, as well as the OG follower who corroborated his account, found no fault in their leader’s actions and insteadsaid they blame the teen who posted the documents on the wow_mao server for wrecking their community.
“Maybe we should have had better opsec,” the member said, harnessing the jargon of military and intelligence personnel for “operations security.”
He insisted said he will not divulge OG’s identity or location to law enforcement until he is captured or can flee the United States. “I think I might be detained eventually. … I think there might be a short investigation on how I knew this guy and they’ll try to get something out of me. They might try to threaten me with prison time if I don’t reveal their identity.”
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

NYT reporting they have found the leaker and arrest is imminent. A 21 year old National Guardsman? Nuts.

Makes no sense to me. How can he have enough access to be the leaker as a 21 year old guardsman? Maybe he's the poster, but someone else had to leak it, no?Originally posted by BlueK View PostNYT reporting they have found the leaker and arrest is imminent. A 21 year old National Guardsman? Nuts.
