His intentions, are literally fascist. Genuine libertarians should find him horrifying.

Estimated to be about $10 billion to $15 billion per year right? Considering social security outlays exceeded $1.2 trillion in FY 2022 and the widening gap between receipts and outlays, it's not incorrect to say that undocumented payments into the system are pretty meaningless. On an individual level of course it isn't meaningless. But our inability to have unemotional conversations about debt and the hard decisions that need to be made will be our undoing.

a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

Pardon the quibble, but it seems to me that in the video he is saying he will fight the idealogy, not forcibly surpress it. As I have observed politics over the past few decades, it seems to me that a politician saying they will fight for something almost always means to use the political process to achieve one's political goals. I believe its use here is more akin to the word debate with the opposition rather than forcible suppression of it. In the admittedly conservative circles I find myself, one of the biggest complaints about "wokeism" that I hear is how those of a woke mindset somewhat forcibly suppress any dissent against their point of view.

Maybe DeSantis is speaking from a dictatorial point of view. Maybe he isn't. At this point, for me he is not Trump and he is not Biden. I have not, nor will I ever pull the lever for either of those two and hope to have the choice of someone else besides the crazies in the fringe parties this next go round.

When Trump first ran, I determined early I could not vote him. There were warning signs. Concerns about his behaviour and character that could not be reconciled. To some that makes me a "never Trumper." If there is such a need to so codify, so be it. As a conscientious objector to Trump and the forseeable danger he represented I watched family and friends "hold their nose" as some said, or undulate ideologically in order to vote for him.

To be blunt, I was correct in my assessment. Trump was and continues to be a disaster, and a danger. With the build towards the 2024 primaries, I have determined early that I cannot vote for DeSantis. There are similar warning signs. I am not smarter than anyone else. Vote for who you will. It is clear to me, DeSantis is not a wise choice.

Authorities in California are investigating who is behind the transportation of 16 migrants who ended up on the doorstep of a diocese in Sacramento Friday after being flown on a private charter jet from New Mexico.

The Venezuelan and Colombian migrants entered the United States in El Paso and had been processed by American immigration officials with court dates for asylum claims, according to the Associated Press. After crossing, “individuals representing a private contractor” offered to get them to their final destination, said Eddie Carmona, campaign director for PICO California, a nonprofit that describes itself as “spiritually-rooted individuals who take action for racial and economic justice in California.” From El Paso, the migrants were transported to New Mexico and then to California, ending up at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento.

“They were lied to and intentionally deceived,” said Carmona.

He says he will 'destroy leftists' and 'leave woke ideology in the dustbin of history.' You could take this as hypothetical rhetoric... OR you could look at what he's already done in Florida to attempt to punish/destroy his political opponents or vocal detractors. He is a 'crazy.'

I'd bet that every piece of produce you eat has been handled or viewed for quality by migrant workers, right now they are vital to the industry. Your small road side produce sheds may be the one exception. I've also never met a person in the industry who calls themselves a liberal or even a democrat, it's a very right crowd. It's a real conundrum for them.

                            These takes are interesting.

The Democratic Party has constantly voted against the crazy fringe elements of their party. Bernie destroyed twice, AOC and the squad have been marginalized, and Biden has struck huge bipartisan deals and has shown willingness to work with both sides.

What more could you really want from the executive? If you have hesitations at his age and vigor that’s fair, but pre-Trump he would be considered a dream by Americans writ large.

According to Mike Lee, Biden totally worked over McCarthy and got everything he wanted!

Wow! You think DeSantis is merely debating? He is banning books. He has enacted laws limiting what children can learn about black history. He passed the "Don't say gay" law. He is mandating changes to college curriculum. He is not debating Disney, he is enacting legislation to attack Disney. When he says that Florida is where Woke comes to die, he is not saying that Florida is where Woke will face a sturdy debate. Pardon the quibble, but in what reality do you exist?
