I think free speech is a great thing. However, I think DeSantis is picking a fight with a press that deserves some pushback and increased accountability. While I wish he approached Disney another way I understand why he's doing what he's doing. Disney's setup in Florida has been compared to the Vatican in Italy. Considering their sweetheart deal it's probably best not to pick a fight with a sitting governor who has the power to make it all go away.

I like how DeSantis handled COVID and shipping illegals up north was a clever way to make a point. I also agree with his views on sex education in schools.

Border states are tired of having to deal with the effects of illegal immigration while lawmakers/activists in non-border states and sanctuary cities get to sit on a pedestal and try to dictate policy that really doesn't affect them in the same way. This isn’t about purity tests like JL seems to think it is, the GOP is finished as currently constituted as a sane political ideology. It’s been co-opted by MAGA and needs to be destroyed. It’s like I’ve been saying for years, we needed the Liz of today, 5 years ago when we all knew this was headed off the rails.

Is DeSantis a rational alternative if he pardons Trump, the J6ers, does Putins Ukraine bidding, and coarsens the national dialogue? Like is he even that different?

You mean the new blue wall that is AZ, NM and CA? I lived in AZ and I can’t remember one local person talking about the burdens of being a border state until I would turn on CNN/Fox and see a politician talking about it. Most citizens there understand the issue is complex, we need the workforce from Mexico, and that 99% of immigrants crossing are the people you want living next door.
