I'm just spitballing here, but I think having the state party chairman and the chairman of the largest county party indicted on felonies and scheduled for trial 4 weeks after my State's First In the West Caucus (and 4 weeks plus 2 days after my State's First In the West Primary) shows how dysfunctional my state's Republican party truly is.

I mean- how can the founders possibly have conceived free speech as including things Ron DeSantis wouldn't approve of?!Originally posted by frank ryan View Post

Colorado Supreme Court removes Trump from 2024 ballot
https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-ne...-23/index.html
In a stunning decision, the Colorado Supreme Court removed former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot, ruling that he isn’t an eligible presidential candidate because of the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.”
The ruling was 4-3 and will be placed on hold pending appeal until January 4, pending a certain appeal to the US Supreme Court, which could settle the matter for the nation."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Now do the same thing in red states with more electoral votes!"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

The way I understand it, since the original court ruled that Trump participated in the insurrection, the issue that was appealed was whether the 14th amendment applies to a President. When the case reaches the SC, isn't that the issue that will be ruled upon and not whether Trump participated in insurrection?"The mind is not a boomerang. On appeal you can raise any issue that has not been waived. So, Trump can argue any point that he argued below, including whether or not his conduct constituted an insurrection.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostThe way I understand it, since the original court ruled that Trump participated in the insurrection, the issue that was appealed was whether the 14th amendment applies to a President. I just got done reading the majority opinion and all three dissenting opinions. The majority opinion, of course, found that he engaged in insurrection. The dissenters responded, vigorously, to the suggestion that the procedures below were enough to allow Trump to be taken off the ballot. But not one dissenting opinion took issue with the finding that he engaged in insurrection. I found that very interesting.
