I hate to be cynical, but I think this is the only lane left for Republican challengers that just don't want to get behind Trump. Desantis is trying to tread Trump's lane and push him out of the way like T1000, but he's flailing. New Coke just doesn't Trump Coca Cola Classic (pun intended). I would think that more conservatives would rub their eyes and the spell would be broken after seeing the results of a Trump regime.

Hunter Biden's laptop, Benghazi, trans people, drag shows. Whatever response one of his defenders would give would probably end up in one of those phrases, because there is no justification for this shit.

I have no problem with the removal of the Confederate General names from the bases that house the army they fought against. I don't see that as woke at all. Maybe he just wants to make the choice clear for those of us that thought he was worth looking at. I guess I am 3rd party for the 3rd time in a row, because I don't see anyone but Trump or DeSantis getting the nomination.

Bragg was a weird choice to begin with. He was despised by most of his men (he survived a couple of Neidermeyer-like attempts on his life by his own men), didn't win anything of significance, was vilified by Kentuckians for abandoning their state (although his retreat was defensible), and lost every major battle. DeSantis's War on Woke is stupid to begin with, and he's making it stupider.

They really didn't choose well when they chose the confederate namesakes of many bases. I remember Hood being known as the North's best general based on his incompetence for the South. Your post jogged my memory about Bragg. I think there were a couple more but the specifics escape me. I read up on each of the generals when the name changes were first proposed, and after review, thought that there was not a name worth keeping, and not just because they were confederates.

That said, I really don't like the name Fort Liberty. So many deserving heros of all ranks that could be recognized.

Stop the presses! We have another courter of the confederate curious voter!

If a libertarian was elected president he would just shut the base down... that would be the best thing to do, and might even help balance the federal budget.

Hey, have they abandoned Fort Bragg, California yet? They should just relocate all the white folks out of there and give it back to the Mendocino Indians. What stupid Californians named it Fort Bragg anyway?

It was named before the Civil War when General Bragg had just fought for the U.S. in the Mexican American War, defending the U.S.'s annexation of Texas. Now that was stupid. Who knew he would join Texas in fighting for slavery?

Yeah, but Fort Schwarzkopf doesn't roll off the tongue as well.

But Fort York sure does, as do 4 of the other 5 MOH recipients from the 82nd. https://armyfacts.com/82nd-airborne-...or-recipients/ (sorry PFC Deglopper)
