  • I feel bad for the kid and hope he gets a good opportunity to show what he can do at the D1 level.

It does. If I've learned anything about college football this year, it's been how tricky it is to find, land, and keep good QBs at this level.

Why? I feel badly for him that he didn't man up and try to win back his job.

        • Good luck to him, but methinks he is not making the right decision.. His best bet was to stay and gain a little humility and let it fester and make him better. Leaving in my opinion only adds to my opinion that he can't own up to his own responsibility for being benched. And that is too bad...

          EDIT:

And part of me wonders if this also is why many of the players did not respect Heaps or rally behind him.. Knowing inwardly that he would bolt if he didn't get his way.. In fact this could have added to the division on the team..

You actually feel bad for him? Let's examine that. Why? Because he may not be a first round NFL draft pick? Is that a tragedy? Because he's leaving BYU for Cal or USC or Washington? Because he didn't put BYU on the map? Why exactly do you feel bad for him? The only reason I can see to feel feel bad for him is that grown ups made him marry at age 19.

Exactly! He has to sit a year no matter what. He's cutting and running instead of facing his demons and overcoming, those are not qualities of a good leader. It speaks directly to his character.

However, I think Apo is fitting into the program pretty well with Riley taking the snaps. Although we may never know, I speculate that this may be what's going on behind the scenes: Jake's friends are abandoning him and he feels like he needs a fresh start somewhere else.
If anyone ought to be looking to transfer to Washington State it is Ross Apo.

Man your concern for your non-rival is very touching. I'm impressed.

I'm pretty sure that's why LAU feels for him and not the other reasons you mentioned.

Maybe he read a book or listened to a podcast on the topic during the season.

Yep. It does sound familiar. Most Utah fans recognize that there were huge issues with managing (recruiting/developing) QBs at Utah. Whit and his OCs to this point have done a very shitty job in this regard.

However, Bronco has a lot of other idiosyncrasies. I'd still take Whit.

He won't leave but I doubt he's looking forward to two running qbs to finish out his college career and his audition for the NFL.

The returning freshman phenom QB and Leach.

He'd be looking at ghastly stats and tons of touches. He'd have a year to grow into the system before seeing the field for two years.

My comments was a response to Heaps claiming WSU was a possibility and others asking of Apo would stay at BYU.

Of the two, Apo transferring to WSU would make a lot more sense.
