    My dad kicks ass.

We rarely see eye to eye, but he taught us to win and win fairly. I wouldn't trade him for anyone else.

I have zero sympathy for Heaps.
I guess your dad didnt realize that transferring schools is not uncommon at all and can be accommodated quite easily.

No, he knew precisely how easy it was to quit. He taught me the most important lesson of my life that day, and I am thankful for it.

        • Steve Young wanted to quit when he was at BYU but his dad said he couldn't come home if he did. I'm not sure about transferring though.

Because he didn't put BYU on the map? Why exactly do you feel bad for him? The only reason I can see to feel feel bad for him is that grown ups made him marry at age 19.

That's funny. Grit loosened up a bit with all of his other sons I guess.

GBH wanted to quit after a few weeks on his mission in England. His dad gave him the same talk.

                    • Jake Heaps will forever reside below such luminaries as Matt Berry, Charlie Peterson, Steve Lindsley, and Sean Covey on the Career Passing Efficiency list at BYU. At least he can say he is ahead of Bret Engemann. OTOH, Riley is still at a career rating ahead of Doman, Hall, Young, Bosco, Walsh, Nielsen, Beck etc. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

                      • Everything's got to be about morality down there. Heaps hasn't done anything wrong. He hasn't quit anything. He was given a one-year athletic scholarship at the beginning of the year. Now it's over. NCAA rules allow him to seek another one at BYU next year or do something else. He's doing something else. What's the problem?

He must have mellowed by the time you decided to "quit" the Church.

                          • Taylor Barton (Heaps QB coach) is on NJR right now. He talked to Jake this morning, but he has exactly nothing of consequence to say.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I don't feel bad for going, I actually had a lot of fun and learned a lot, but I don't like having BY's name and all it implies on my diploma. It makes me want to get another degree just to hide BY behind it...

That makes zero sense to me. BYU is a fantastic name in the biz world.
