I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

Sometimes we might be forgetting how trully awful the offense looked against UCF and for 2/3 of the USU game.
that was a mistype and already changed. there are too many variables for you to extrapolate anything from how Jake does at the next stop to what the potential outcome could have been at BYU. Good or Bad.

I am a big fan of Brandon. He grew up playing sports with my brother and I have a lot of respect for him, his accomplishments, and his family. He may or may not have been ready to move up to the OC position, that is debatable. I will say that I would prefer to hire a coach who has moved around to a few different programs, worked with a few different coaches, etc., as opposed to a coach who has been in one program for his entire career.Originally posted by Maximus View Postughhhh so we hired someone who can not run a BYU offense? maybe bronco should have looked around some more instead of making the easy hire.
But the decision to let him be the OC AND maintain his former duties as the QB coach was probably a bad decision, and that falls squarely on Bronco. An OC, let alone a first-time OC, has enough on his plate without worrying about training the QBs too. Each of those positions is an 80+ hour/week job.

I love how people keep dogging Riley and keep giving Heaps a pass. Heaps has been and is a total puss. O'Neal Chambers was in his camp day one until he realized what a puss he was which cost him his position on the team. Riley might not have the NFL arm but he is a dang good college QB who wants to compete, and gets his team to play better for him. Heaps is not that guy. He needed his game to do his talking and this year, it failed him. He couldn't go through his progressions to save his life and fell in love with the 5 yard out when there was a guy wide open in the middle of the field with the ability to turn the play into a 10-15 yard gainer after the catch.
Heaps never could gain the respect of his teammates who thought he was entitled to the position. Riley never resigned or quit fighting for the job and when he got his time, the team rallied around him.
I wish Heaps didn't transfer but that is what Pussies do. BYU will be fine.

I was not happy with how Jake performed early in the season. I might have even said I was OK with Riley getting playing time. I honestly don't remember but I am sure you could find a post that would say I support Nelson in some fashion. Bottom line is I want BYU to win and I expect the coach to take care of the long-term planning and not worry about my hissy fits as a fan.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI said next stop not next level. If Riley Nelson spread option running QBs are the long-term vision for the program, then I will likely bitch even louder than I have been bitching about the loss of Anae, because I don't have faith in that long-term plan. Bronco's lacking patience in Jake either supports this crappy long-term plan or it supports a fickle coach without the patience that could fit into one of LaVell's frown lines.
I like wins as much as the next guy. I did think that Jake would win the same games that Riley won with the exception of USU. So with that in mind, I would hope that I could be disciplined enough to stay with my long-term plan. My gambling results would say I am not always that disciplined! I have some river boat gambler in me that sometimes rears its ugly head. I expect more from the football coach of BYU.Dyslexics are teople poo...

Time will tell. He sure didnt look like a dang good college qb against a suspect TCU defense. Which, by the way, is the only decent defense he has faced. I hope he ends up being my knight in shining armor like he is yours.Originally posted by A-Train View PostI love how people keep dogging Riley and keep giving Heaps a pass. A different Riley cost us the TCU game. When your punter absolutely shits the bed, there isn't much you can do.Originally posted by Tone Loc View PostTime will tell. I don't know what to make of this. To me Nelson was far and away the better quarterback this year. It wasn't close. This idea that Nelson took out cupcakes while Heaps struggled against the good teams is baloney. We didn't play any good teams this year. Heaps played against Texas. Nelson got TCU. I don't have any idea about what happened off the field, but based on game performance Heaps can have no complaints. Nelson was better.Last edited by EuropeanFootballMale; 12-05-2011, 03:36 PM.
