I dont understand this sentiment. He is quitting how? Because he thinks there may better opportunities elsewhere?

Of course I expect this kind of stuff from you. Where is hottiecoug to come in and say just how neat and generous and glorious you are?

If neither of them develop, are we going to rely on Hill coming in as a freshman? He could be great, but I'd rather not put my eggs in that basket.
The setup when Jake was the presumed started was for Hill to take over as a RS soph. I think for now that stays the plan, with Munns getting one year as a Sr.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

      • Adios, Jake. Go ahead and let the door hit your ass on the way out. Despite all your god-given talents, you couldn't play well enough to distinguish yourself from a run-first, twizzler-armed little person. You and your apologists can blame Bronco and crew all you want, but if you'd ever given them any reason to play you over Riley, you would still be the starter.

You got your shot and you made the least of it. Sorry, man.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

              • Good luck, Jake.

I wished he would have stayed, but I'm not mad because I think it's questionable he would ever get a fair shot to start again. That said, I don't blame the coaches for not giving him a fair shot to start again.

Here's the kind of bridge Heaps provides, and yes, it was even from Washington:

I think he's home in time to get in school in January.

                      • Fitting that the last pass thrown by Heaps in his BYU career is a drop by Mckay Jacobsen.

Kind of ironic that Heaps gets KVN, Apo, Stout and Quezada to BYU. They have all succeeded up until this point and have bright futures. Jake the one that got them here is the odd man out.

Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be.

Hopefully whatever mistakes were made by BYU and/or Jake will be something both learn from, and this experience can a fresh start for both.

While I'm disappointed - it is also frustrating that all we're talking about is potential here. There have been and will be other players with tons of reported potential that never seem to amount to as much as is expected.

BYU will be fine, in the end. So will Jake.

They why can't he play next year?

If he's home by then, then disregard my comment.

Perhaps the kid from Boise stays home from a mission?

I don't think this is a big deal at all for BYU. Between Hill and Mangum, some shuffling of mission departures and arrivals you will be no worse off than had Heaps stayed.

Apo and KVN are studs. Heaps got them to BYU.

That alone should garner him some appreciation on the part of BYU fans, even Viking.

                              • There is plenty of blame to go around.

Riley still has a crappy arm and will be hated by half the fanbase next season, even more if Jake somehow succeeds elsewhere.

Jake is quitter, allegedly lazy, immature, and a bit of a moran. He has a lot of potential upside on the field. Karma says he will wind up at Kal where he continue the longstanding 50+ year tradition of failure to go to the Rose Bowl.

Bronco mismanaged the QB situation and now finds himself in a load of problems.....fragile starting QB with zero backup plan. That should sound familiar to Ute fans.

USC is not going to w.a.s.t.e. a precious scholarship on Jake Heaps, so he can forget that option.
                                Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
