Utes, can we hear some more ALL HAIL THE NEW PAC 12!'s?Lev: Some say Larry Scott settled. But you’re right — the Pac-However-Many is in better shape today than a few weeks ago, and it isn’t close.
Maya: I feel like this was an ideal two-step. Utah has been better than most of the teams from this conference the past decade. Colorado certainly was the two decades before that. These are Pac-10-caliber teams.
Lev: And they’re not that far from Pac-10 country! It’s a victory for geography — except for the whole skipping-over-Nevada thing.
Lev: The two biggest benefits, as I see them: 1. A conference championship game. 2. Footprints in the Denver and Salt Lake City TV markets. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

But using high-minded verbiage. That's what they taught us in the Highland High class of 1973. You probably went to East and thus wouldn't understand.Originally posted by creekster View PostOoooh, you Blaine Avenue boys talk tough.Last edited by LA Ute; 07-02-2010, 04:54 PM.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Well HHS was a snob school in the early 70s. Maybe not as much as Olympus or Skyline, but they sure seemed to look down on us Cyprus Pirates. However, I like to think I have overcome any high school environmental influences.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostBut using high-minded verbiage. I also thought "crapulent" was crude, but it is a terrific word (I just learned it a week or so ago) and does not refer to excrement or anything icky at all.Originally posted by creekster View PostYes, nothing says high-minded like using the word 'crapulence.'

•S: (adj) crapulent, crapulous (suffering from excessive eating or drinking) "crapulent sleep"; "a crapulous stomach"

Here's the Latin and Greek derivation.
Still, I don't think I will ever use it in a sacrament meeting talk, as fun as that might be.
I was one of the "non-rich" kids at Highland, by the way. (I lived west of Foothill Boulevard, in other words.) Still, I somehow avoided rickets and indentured servitude and made it to adulthood.Last edited by LA Ute; 07-02-2010, 06:12 PM.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”
