We went to the same junior high and high school at the same time.

Cougars together they banner will raise
We will endeavor as the years go by
To uphold the ideals of Clayton Junior High

On red and white, our banners fly true

That's as much as I recall. Was Mr. Papadakis still a PE teacher when you got there?

Yup, Mr. Papadakis and Mr. Newbold. We were in high school when Papadakis died. I graduated from East in 88. Same year (I think) as Tooblue who went to Highland. I didn't know Tooblue personally but we knew several of the same people.

That's not what I'm getting at. I'd have expected them to exaggerate the quality of the team that beat them. Sour grapes seems to have prevailed instead. Looks like the same thing happened at Oregon, whom Boise State beat, but who beat Utah.

              Did you know Biff Linebaugh?

Yup - same year as me. Although I "knew of her" is probably a better way to say it. She was in the "cool" crowd and I was just another faceless nerd wishing I could be popular like the cool kids.

I really liked Dean Papadakis. It sounds like he died fairly young. What happened?

                  Tooblue a Highland Ram? Who'd a-thunk it?

                    • Fascinating information yesterday. It is common knowledge that the Pac-10 didn't want BYU and didn't think BYU fit with who and what they are. What is not common knowledge is that BYU's Board of Trustees made it clear to Cecil Samuelson last spring that the BOT would not sign off on a conference change for BYU from the MWC to the Pac-10. They believe a move to a conference can change a school and a move to the Pac-10 would put pressure on BYU to be something the BOT doesn't want them to be. In short, not only did Cal not want BYU but BYU didn't want Cal.

BYU made the decision a long time ago.

Wow, so I guess the BYU board of trustees is bigoted too. BYU didn't want the Pac 10 because of religious reasons. Astonishing.

Just $.02 here, but you and LA are giving the "absurd" perspective more legs here lately than any BYU fan.
