  • I don't understand the Air Force thing. I can't explain it. If this is true, they would end up being the whipping boy of the Big 12.

        • Chip Brown was on Gottlieb and said that the Big 12 lite will remain with 10 teams and no plans to expand. Wonder why his station is tweeting differently.. weird.

Extreme religious bigotry may be a bit over the top, but the PAC 10 clearly does not want any part of religious institutions. I don't think their dislike for religious schools has anything to do with whether or not the PAC 16 gets done though. I don't think the PAC 10 invited CU to block Baylor. I think they added CU for the notion that they will be able to deliver the Denver market. Baylor adds nothing. The fact that they are rejecting a religious school is just a side benefit.

The PAC doesn't need Baylor if the rest come over. Small market, horrible football team, the entire state of Texas and all of their tvs are coming over anyway with Texas and A&M. Colorado is much more desirable (in terms of academics and market) than Baylor ever was.

Even if religion does have something to do with it, the non-religious reasons for excluding Baylor still make it a sound move.

WTF? He lost me at his PAC only invited CU to block Baylor assertion.

                          And now this is there:
104.9 The Horn DID NOT report that Air Force and BYU would be two new Big12 teams.

Why was the CU invite made outside the rest of the Big 12 invites? It came right at a time when the rumor was that Texas wanted Baylor instead of CU and some of the Pac schools were balking at it. It does seem like they were forcing Texas' hand with that.

Yup, they even said on that station that it wasn't legit and someone hacked their account. Unbeleiveble.

                                No logic there.

I don't think CU was added to block Baylor. I think CU was added because like me Larry always knew his plan was a long shot and he wanted to nail down the fall back. Clearly Baylor was never a high priority for Texas.

Nor is CU dead weight. In many respects it's stronger than half the Pac 10 schools by any measure. The Pac wanted CU for obvoius reasons. The market is bigger and it's academically stronger than any Big 12 member except Texas and TAMU. And it won a national championship in football not so long ago.

The "bigotry" nonsense has been discussed ad nauseum and need not be belabored here. It's not bigotry it's about values. It would be nice if BYU fans could accept their values and the attendant consequences without uttering drivel like bigotry. BYU has chosen its course. It should learn to live with it with dignity.
