This was my initial reaction right when it happened. I no longer fear this. The P12 is toastOriginally posted by Green Monstah View Post
I'm curious why you think the PAC becomes the surviving entity. I am struggling to come up with any plausible scenario where that's true, but I think you're closer to college sports than I am.

PAC? commissioner k stalling for time.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostLast edited by myboynoah; 07-05-2022, 02:46 PM.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Why would the ACC want to open up it's current media rights deal to accommodate this? Four-five schools would immediately bolt for the SEC or BIG.
Seems like more desperation and stalling from commissioner k.
Canzano: Pac-12 eyeing "loose partnership" with another conference
What would a “loose partnership” with the ACC look like? It could include a shared media rights deal with ESPN, who currently works with both entities. Also, it could result in the 10 remaining Pac-12 teams sticking together and the winner of that “10-team division” playing in an ACC vs. Pac-12 championship game in Las Vegas at the end of the season. Also, there could be some attractive regular-season crossover games between the entities in football and men’s basketball.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Didn't they just have a "loose partnership" with the B1G? How did that work out?Originally posted by myboynoah View PostWhy would the ACC want to open up it's current media rights deal to accommodate this? Four-five schools would immediately bolt for the SEC or BIG.

The sheer arrogance of the Pac-12 is astonishing. I mean, keep it up. The more their focus is on reputation, exclusivity and snobbery, the quicker they are digging their own grave. They act as if they were on par with the B1G, but it's been clear for years it's a distinction without merit. Remember when the B1G shut down football for covid and the Pac-12 fell all over themselves to follow suit?

I think this is purely stalling by the pac. Things were moving too fast, so commissioner k throws up new media rights negotiations and a possible alliance with the ACC to keep the Arizona schools on the team for now. If those Arizona schoos bolt, it falls like a house of cards.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

Everyone seems to be panicking, not least the Big 10.
With the abysmal finances in the athletic side of, for example, Michigan, probably the university administrators are telling the athletic director you need to start breaking even and start carrying your own load or we're going to cut you off. Fucking at least break even, meat heads. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Right now it looks to me like college football is going the way of boxing or rowing. That book about the UW rowing team at the Nazi Olympics says rowing used to be the top collegiate sport. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Sports writers are so dumb. These mega merger scenarios. Hell will freeze over before UW, Stanford or Cal is in the same conference with Houston , Baylor, or--sorry, don't mean to offend--BYU.
But trading USC and UCLA for Notre Dame, Duke, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia Tech, now we're talking. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
