Ha, Vegas is a great example. The blue bloods (top 12-15 programs) of college football are the house and the rest of us are running around putting coins in their slots in the hopes of striking it big. Every once in a while someone from the masses wins big (BYU in ‘84), but mostly we are just helping them get richer and more powerful."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

This thread is pretty funny just for the responses from fans encouraging UoU admin to "contact the Big 10 and the SEC now!". You gotta love fans.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

The best thing for BYU would be for the B12 to add Oregon, UW, and maybe the AZ schools and have Utah relegated to the MWC. I don't think that is likely, though.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View Post
It wouldn't be in BYU's interest to invite Utah. MBN, whom I quoted, explicitly stated that.
B1G is clearly in talks with ND. If ND says no, decent odds that UW & Oregon go to B12. If ND says yes, then what? Take ND/UW/Oregon and boot Rutgers? Go to 17 teams? ND + UW only?
Things are going to get crazy."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Most likely: ND says no, Big 10 takes Oregon and Washington.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

Any other scenario is so much less likely than those two that I won't list them. I don't see a future where Washington stays in the Pac 10. I also don't think this is the point in time where the Big 10 or SEC begin ejecting their dead weight like Rutgers or Vandy but don't rule that out happening in the coming years.

I've been listening to local sports radio. There is not a single person on there who doesn't think Utah is unworthy of the B1G. And there is a general disappointment at the prospects of the Big-XII. Like, it doesn't cross their mind that the Big-XII is probably their lifeline.Originally posted by BigFatMeanie View Post

The thought just occurred to me that USC and UCLA will have to run the gauntlet of PAC?? refs this year and next. Considering that the PAC?? refs have the worst reputation in college sports for their tipping the scales, there could be some really bad calls over the next couple years against USC and UCLA.

I think you are close. If Notre Dame says "Yes", and I doubt they will, B1G may decide to also add Washington to balance the conference. Otherwise, B1G expansion does not go further, at least for a few years. When the B1G expands, they do so with 1-2 teams at a time and then take a pause. If the B1G wanted to expand by 4 teams with Washington and Oregon, it would have happened already - when USC and UCLA were announced.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View Post

Wouldn't surprise me if the B10 is much more interested in ND and what they can get from the ACC than anything remaining in the Pac12 (including Washington and Oregon).Originally posted by Paperback Writer View Post

Would you take Clemson/Miami over Washington/Oregon? Tough to say. If not for the obvious choice of Utah, the sky would be the limit!Originally posted by Pelado View Post

I agree. The B1G just can't quit coveting Notre Dame. Might make more sense to add Notre Dame and perhaps Pittsburgh or someone else from the ACC. The B1G will take Notre Dame at any time. If Notre Dame says "Yes" tomorrow, then Washington makes sense at present. If Notre Dame says, "Yes" at some point down the road, then a team from the ACC might be preferred. I just bring up Washington now in case Notre Dame decides to change its mind very soon. I have my doubts that they will since they have said "No" to the B1G repeatedly.Originally posted by Pelado View Post

You are right though, when everyone accepts t that this game is as slanted as a sheer cliff the easier it is to enjoy. Kinda like Vegas.
