    What a mess.

The article provided a unique perspective on Utah's move to the PAC12.

It wasn't pottage. It was all kinds of Ute stuff, like shoes, practice uni, wrist bands, etc. Sheesh.

        • Wilner with some interesting stuff ...

What impact will the league’s 12-year deal with ESPN and Fox have on decisions to hire or fire a football coach … or a men’s basketball coach … or a coach of any sport, really.

The $3 billion deal means a huge infusion of cash for each athletic department, although not as much as you might think — at least not initially: The reported figure ($20.8 million per school per year) is the 12-year average.

The deal has an escalator clause, which means the Year 1 per-school payout is considerably less — in the $15-16 million range, I believe — and the Year 12 payout is considerably more.

But that $15-16 million initial payout means different things to different schools, depending on expenses. Some must buy back millions in broadcast rights that had been sold to multimedia companies (IMG, Learfield) but, going forward, will be property of the conference.

For some schools, then, the Year 1 net revenue increase over the expiring media deal is only $5 or $6 million.

          • So the one BYU game this year that might not be on TV is the one on the road at the P12? Your conference sucks!

You are going up against USC-CAL and Oregon-ASU that day. If the teams playing the game were in a better position this season, the game would be on TV.

It could be worse. When the Utes pounded Oregon on the road 34-16 in 1994 the game wasn't even on the radio in SLC, and the news could barely scrape together 6 seconds worth of video highlights.

At least you now have the online streaming option. Technology is cool.

We were told over and over again that all P12 football games would not only be on TV, but that they would all be on national TV. P12 tv deal is no better than the mountain so far. Searching for games in the 600 channels and not televising others? Lame.

Umm....that deal takes effect in 2012.

Well excuse me. The current PAC12 TV deal sucks. I hope for y'all that the next one is much better.

Sounds like a fun game, but I hate watching football in baseball parks.

For >$300Billion it should be better.
