have to admit, its been entertaining watching Y Fans cringe and grip with every tweet and news article coming out of Big 12 Territory.

Not saying, I'd be any different (if Utah were on the outside looking in), but it's fun to witness from the safety of Utah's PAC-12 porch.

We were doing that same thing last year. Fortunately our Cougar brethren were here for us and helped us through.

Not that this needs to be pointed out, but it's a lot easier to be magnanimous when you're already in. Ute fans will never understand what BYU fans have gone through this last year. Being left behind last year with no idea of when or if we could join the party was a bitter pill. I did my best to be happy for my Ute friends even though I was filled with jealous rage.

Ray said the decision not to expand came during a conference call with representatives from the member schools. Scott, charged with "reconnaissance" as Ray called it, had presented various proposals. In the end, no formal votes were taken, because it was unnecessary.

"It was clear that the sense of the conversation was, 'You know what? We're good,'" Ray said.

The Pac-12 essentially had three criteria when it considered expansion: All schools would have to remain on equal footing, it would have to make financial sense, and it could not diminish the conference's academic brand.

"We all care a lot about how we're perceived in all parts of the world, not just the athletic world, in terms of our academic interests and capabilities," Ray said.

But the answer is well behind Texas, very similar to the other three though Texas Tech brings up the rear.

As long as Utah is on par with the worst school in the PAC, it has not diminished the academic brand.

So that's something to hang your hat on, at least.
