A special house hearing on Big 12 is being called for Wednesday. It looks like some texas leaders want to slow things down and talk about why the Big-12 should be kept together even if the governor doesn't want to get involved.

This is terrific. The issue is touching the gubernatorial election. Legislative committee members are being identified by their school affiliation. We could never make this stuff up. Who's going to play Gene Stallings in the movie?Originally posted by Ted Nugent View PostA special house hearing on Big 12 is being called for Wednesday. Not having read the article, but seeing that it's from the waco paper, I suspect it has everything to do with Baylor being left out in the cold. Not even the MWC wants them (per the Fort Worth Star Telegram).Originally posted by Ted Nugent View PostA special house hearing on Big 12 is being called for Wednesday. You folks have no idea how serious people take this stuff down here. I have heard of court hearings (albeit generally not important ones, I am told) in which all parties involved are required to wear a sweatshirt from their alma mater.
If you are a gubanatorial candidate, you should stay the hell out. Fastest way to get yourself killed in the election is to malign one school or another.Awesomeness now has a name. Let me introduce myself.

As I stated the other day Utah joining a PAC 12 is not the same as joining a PAC 16. I agree a great deal with Ma'ak's post you linked to on Ute fans. If Utah gets an invite to a PAC 12 it's a no brainer. However, if they are invited to be a part of a PAC 16 East division, Utah becomes Baylor and they should have serious reservations about such a scenario.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostK

Regardless, my gut tell's me that my initial thoughts about all this are still valid. The Utes will end up being invited into a PAC 12.

I really was just making fun of how seriously they take this stuff in Texas. BTW, I think I see what you are saying about Baylor, but I still think you are wrong. You can't compare Baylor, a 12,000 student religious university with no football success at all and a hoops program almost destroyed by scandal, with a large public university like Utah, whose football program is on the rise (BCS success, etc.) and a strong hoops tradition. WSU will be Baylor.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

After how wrong Cella has been on this issue, how can anyone put any credence in anything he has to say? Honestly. He doesn't know anything that is happening because everything that is happening, the real sources for where Utah is going to come out in this little adventure, are all in Texas right now. Even if he has talked to President Young himself, Young could only pass along what he has heard about what is going on in Texas, which is a very fluid situation. Cella and his sources (if they exist) are making their best guesses, probably based on Chip Brown tweets and ESPN insider rumors. The real question is whether or not Cella fleshes that tweet out with some real meat on UteZone. If not, then I'd question it even more. Why pay if he doesn't pass along some reall inside info?
Again, there is nothing in the media on Utah to the Pac-16 being imminent, even the local media. I will start to believe something is in the works when it shows up in reporting outside of a Utah fan site. The aTm domino needs to fall before the discussion turns to Utah. Question any reporting until that happens. Rational Utah Fans are doing just this.Last edited by myboynoah; 06-13-2010, 04:08 AM.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
