If somehow A&M convinces the others to stay put, the Big-12 survives. Then there is a chance that BYU gets picked up by them. But if A&M chooses to go to the PAC-10, everyone including Utah stays in the MWC. If A&M goes to the SEC, BYU is screwed.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostComment

so I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I figured it out. The Pac-10's not expanding - they're just trying to get back to the Pac-8. But they need six more teams to do it. I swear this is the only way they'll feel like the conference is pure again. lol.Comment

Considering that Arizona has been making huge cuts in higher education and may have more on the table if proposition 100 (sales tax increase) fails the original Pac-8 schools may be trying to distance themselves from Arizona. Of course, the whole thing with the new immigration law doesn't help either. So maybe they are thinking they will create two divisions in the Pac-16 and give the west division ASU and Arizona. In fact, it looks like the Pac-10 is trying to get Texas, et. el. to bring the Big-12's auto bid to a BCS bowl with them.
