As long as they gig 'em on over to the PAC 16.

What would I prefer? The big-12 sticking together or a Utah-less Pac-10? Hmmm...

Well, the Big 12 looks to be dead no matter what, so let's hope Utah stays in the MWC.

              • What will happen??? The answer lies in here:

If somehow A&M convinces the others to stay put, the Big-12 survives. Then there is a chance that BYU gets picked up by them. But if A&M chooses to go to the PAC-10, everyone including Utah stays in the MWC. If A&M goes to the SEC, BYU is screwed.

Utah to the PAC12, BYU takes CU's place in the Big 12. I like that outcome. (I also would like to be able to sprout wings and fly.)

                    • so I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I figured it out. The Pac-10's not expanding - they're just trying to get back to the Pac-8. But they need six more teams to do it. I swear this is the only way they'll feel like the conference is pure again. lol.

This is like college football's version of the Cuban missile crisis. There will be books written about the events of these few days. And a made for tv movie with James Taylor playing the role of Larry Scott.

Considering that Arizona has been making huge cuts in higher education and may have more on the table if proposition 100 (sales tax increase) fails the original Pac-8 schools may be trying to distance themselves from Arizona. Of course, the whole thing with the new immigration law doesn't help either. So maybe they are thinking they will create two divisions in the Pac-16 and give the west division ASU and Arizona. In fact, it looks like the Pac-10 is trying to get Texas, et. el. to bring the Big-12's auto bid to a BCS bowl with them. In short, it is looking like the Pac-16 would really be two conferences that share one name.

That's my point. They'd finally get rid of their two eyesore johnny-come-latelies (though I think they were added before I was born) by ceding them to a separate Pac division. And I don't think this is a case of "separate but equal" in their minds. lol.

That's exactly what Scott has in mind and what I dislike about the whole scheme.

You should love it, Snoopy. The proposed conference is so absurd that it guarantees its own demise. If it weren't for stuff like this, the realignment might actually be viable.
