Killer, I was very touched by this news. It brought a tear to my eye, and I hope creekster and other BYU fans who have been saying they want the rivalry to die feel chastened. This is what I am saying about the U of U. It's a very big tent. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Dont blame the messenger. This is what is so amusing to me about all of SU's excitement. These PAC-10 guys dont see Utah as better or different. The only difference in their eyes is the sponsoring institution. (and even that is not somethign that makes them desire Utah.) Otehrwsie, they would take BYU in a flash over Utah. But their real prefernce is not to take anyone else and maybe to even give back the AZ schools.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostAs opposed to going to Salt Lake and driving down to Provo for games?PLesa excuse the tpyos.

David Gardner was also a Utah president, and may be more responsible than Chris Hill for this day.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostClear sign of a bigot is when they defend their bigotry by saying, "I'm not a bigot, one of my best friends is a _______."
Cal is a big tent. It just wants BYU to be one too. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

My understanding was that some members of the BOT would not have voted for the merger without this guarantee.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostKiller, I was very touched by this news. ? Look buddy, I said the rivalry is irreparably changed for the worse, not that I WANT it to die. To the contrary, I will miss it. If anything, this bit of info, if true, proives my point. The utes already feel guilt about this turn away from thei family and are going to go back and say "look! we can play you anytime we want to! See? It isn't so bad!" knowing all along that it will never work out that way.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostKiller, I was very touched by this news. there will be plenty of times when they don't want to play us. thus I am sticking by my 3-4 timers per decade prediction.Originally posted by creekster View Post? Utah and the Pac couldn't finalize terms early enough for the vote today. There are a few issues still out there. They believe they will have a vote at 7:30 tomorrow and then a dog and pony show at 3:30 with everyone invited. Right now all is a go. Only concern is the disgust the Pac, particularly Cal, has with BYU. Cal representatives expressed that they would have rather left the Pac-10 than let BYU in because of the religious issues they have with BYU. It is possible that if Cal finds out how LDS the U really is, they may dig in their heels.
The condition regarding expansion of the stadium by 20K is confirmed. The North stands would need $100 mil. because of the road and the renovation of the field house but the south stands already have the foundation to support the new seats.
The U made a condition that they would be allowed to schedule BYU whenever they wanted in the season (similar to USC/ND scheduling). So far, the Pac is very, very happy with the product they are getting.
