Yes, the 31 flavors approach is less effective but certainly better for Ukraine than what they have now (i.e., none of the tanks). How long to get a Ukrainian tank battalion spun up on effectively operating the M1?Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View Post
Sounds like the US is sending M1s to Ukraine. One article used the word "significant" numbers. Poland has committed 14 Leopards once Germany gives them permission. I understand that the Brits have committed 14 Challengers and the French are leaning to sending LeClerks.
First off all help helps but if the numbers are out there best to just send one type. The Ukrainians will be more effective in mounted warfare only resupplying or fixing the same type of tank. But politics has its role.
The Ukrainians want 300ish tanks. That is the equivalence of a US Armor Division +. I am interested to see what the numbers end up being overall once the Germans commit to a number and free up the Eastern European countries who bought Leopards. Throw in the US Abrans and British and French tanks and the Ukrainians may have the numbers needed to conduct my highly recommended double counter offensive strategy and I can be trusted as similar to Andrew Bernard from Cornell-I graduated from West Point....on time.
Changing this fight from trench warfare of attrition to mounted maneuver will expose the gawdless commies for their greatest weakness-logistics.

I recall that you were the one who said that Ukraine should immediately surrender when Russia invaded. So you lost all credibility in this discussion.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View Post

I'm amazed, but shouldn't be, that anyone believes that ending the war with Putin controlling chunks of Ukraine will be the end of his expansionist ambitions. There's a reason pretty much every country bordering Russia is sending everything they can to help Ukraine, in much greater proportion to their respective GDPs and is the U.S.Originally posted by Commando View Post

If we used existing tanks already in Germany not very long-probably to the fight in 2-3 months. However, my understanding is the tanks are coming from the manufacturer so they gots to be built first. I keep reading months and folks seem to think by late summer or early fall.Originally posted by Joe Public View Post

Kinda makes you wonder if Russia didn't somehow fund Bin Laden and the Taliban. That 20 years did more toward leveling the playing field for non US countries than anything post cold war could have. Not that I believe that it is really all that level even now.Originally posted by Commando View Post

This. We're degrading what capabilities Russia has--or what we thought they had--by simply sending arms and support to a highly motivated neighbor. I think at worst, Russia comes out of this degraded to the point that they won't be much of a threat for years to come. At best, perhaps the Russia fractures into smaller pieces.Originally posted by Commando View Post
