TR lost that election though so maybe this doesn't mean Trump is a shoo in.

Didn't Teddy express some concern for the would be assassin?

I despise Trump for many things. This doesn’t register as one of the more important things to worry about. But it isn’t ridiculous to fault him for showing us again what he is. At the very least, let’s not put him up on the badass pedestal or suggest he’s a better leader because of it.

Patton said if he could he'd "find those Nazi sunuvabitches and give them each a medal." Rather than remove Trump from the race, the shooter pretty much ensured his election.
Can you imagine if that bullet would have been a few inches over and he was assassinated with all those cameras rolling? This entire mess is going to be awful but we came real close to anarchy. Yeesh.

            An even more ridiculous response.

I might have thought he was more badass had he not been worrying about his shoes at the podium.

Not unlike the Jan 6 crowd that was lied to about the election enough times they felt justified in rioting. These are not smart people on either side that go this far. They are fanatics. But the smart leaders in both parties stoking the fires and raising the temperature for 8 years bear some responsibility for where we are.
The ruling is not difficult to understand. His legal team is already using it to potentially over turn his conviction:

I am as conservative as they come. When Trump first ran for president, my instincts told me he was dangerous. My instincts were correct as validated by his actions, direct and in-direct, on January 6 and his continued lying and attempts to undermine elections.

This isn't complicated. My instincts tell me this situation increases the threat he poses in ways we can't yet understand. I am not being hyperbolic. You raised the spectre of Hitler, but I am living in the present and I am concerned about Trump with good reason.

Maybe the shooter was just a really poor shot.
Or took the shot rather quickly after coming above the roof ridge. There is video of the SS snipers that apparently shot the assailant who obviously had eyes on him. I am sure everyone will be asking why the shooter was allowed to get so many shots off.

20 year old who registered republican but donated to the democrats. Must have hated trump so much he registered as a GOP’er to vote for his opponent in the primaries.

I have to wonder about trump’s reaction… did he not realize how close he came to death? He seemed to be more worried about his shoe (that came off?) than his own life.

Absolutely. Trump dying that way would be much, much worse than his survival and winning the election.

                        • Did Biden really say "it's time to put Trump in the bullseye" just four days ago? If so, the timing of that statement is just really, really bad for Biden (even though he should have never said it to begin with).

Yes he did. It was on a cal with donors, but his campaign team sent the quote out to journalists.
