        • Here's what we've learned.

For years democrats and their allies in the media have scolded Republicans for being unable to do anything about Trump being nominated. Then they have said that Republicans who decided to live with Trump are bad people.

It turns out democrats are no better. They can't do anything about Biden.

And the outcome is the same: Trump elected president.

And clearly democratic leaders have decided they can live with Trump.

          • The point some conservatives have made with which I'm sympathetic is that inflammatory talk about Trump wanting to be the next Hitler could have incited this kid.

That's more plausible than that Trump could be a dictator.

But they don't really believe that, obviously.

There's nothing crazier than calling your opponent in the most longstanding democracy on earth, in the richest and militarily strong country on earth, with no history of authoritarianism and diverse population that is almost to a person pathological about free speech and individual rights, who is participating in this election, and has been on trial three times and followed judicial directives and adhered to the rule of law and respected or tolerated adverse outcomes, a wanna be Hitler.

I can't think of more irresponsible talk than that.

The Republican Party has said some crazy stuff, but nothing crazier than this.

Just like months of inflammatory nonsense about a stolen election led to violence at the Capitol. Yet nothing like this. Got it.

come back when the liberal media calls the deranged gunman a patriot the same way the far right, even members of Congress say that about the brainwashed MAGA mob who got violent to try to prevent the transfer of power to a new president.

Interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox, April 11: Xi is a “brilliant man” with “the look, the brain, the whole thing”; and Putin is “very smart”
                    • U.S. President Donald Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping Saturday after the ruling Communist party announced it was eliminating the two-term limit for the presidency, paving the way for Xi to serve indefinitely, according to audio aired by CNN.

"He's now president for life, president for life. And he's great," Trump said, according to audio of excerpts of Trump's remarks at a closed-door fundraiser in Florida aired by CNN. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll have to give that a shot someday," Trump said to cheers and applause from supporters.”

He refused to criticize Putin after it was alleged that Russia had paid the Taliban a bounty for dead US soldiers. He has never criticized Putin. But he tried to withdraw 12,000 troops from Germany on his way out, only to have Biden reserve it. He abandoned the Kurds. He wanted to withdraw what forces there were in Syria. He also tried to withdraw soldiers from all of Africa which seemed puzzling but now that you see Russia and Wagner co-piloting a rash of coup-de-tats across the continent, it makes sense.

                      • So you guys think the Weimar Republic and Hindenberg's appointment of Hitler as Chancellor is a useful portend or analogy or precedent or whatever for understanding what may come to pass if Trump is elected.

                        Got it.

                            • I'm not saying I want Trump to win. On the contrary, Democrats' leaders are clearly more resigned to it than I am.

Whatever he has said about other dictators or quasi-dictators doesn't mean he could make himself dictator even if he wanted to.

Where did he say, "I want to be dictator."

Trump says all kinds of reprehensible things. He's not going to be dictator.
