The election is over.

Doesn’t really matter if they replace Biden or not. By now, the story is that Democrats were so desperate to retain power that they openly lied to the public about President Biden’s capacity and hoped no one would notice. While Biden struggles to string sentences together, Trump literally takes bullets and doesn’t even change his schedule.

November will be an ugly month for DemocratsAmericans.

This was absolute worst-case scenario. I’ve said many times that Trump should hope someone kills him, as martyrdom would benefit his legacy far more than a second term. But for America, an unsuccessful assassination attempt was absolute worst-case. Trump is now a POTUS lock and he and all his sycophants are emboldened.

Agreed. But I do find it interesting that your definition of bad seemed to be "insufferable" responses from trump allies on the right?

Everyone needs to shut up about this being the last election and democracy being at stake. On both sides. When both sides believe the other is going to take away all freedom, violence becomes justified and even righteous. And shocker of shockers here we are.

Trump is a garbage human being and I don't want him to be president again. But those concerns are secondary to me right now.

Not sure how to respond to this. Two things can be true. The assassination attempt can be bad for all Americans. Although I chose not respond to that, my first visceral response was to leave the country. Would have been the same response if it was Biden who was attacked.

But yeah I think the most insufferable responses are going to be from the right. I already posted two of them, from elected officials. If there are some equally insufferable ones that come from elected democrats let's broadcast those also.

I won't be charitable. He is a horrible human being and this is a huge political gift to him. But I'm still grateful he was not killed as I think that would have put us in even more dangerous territory. God help us.

20% serious 80% shock factor/joke. My main point being that I have said on numerous occasions to all the bleeding hearts in my office who have jokingly hoped for a Trump assassination since 2016 that, while that may be one way to get/keep him out of office, that would be the worst way to attempt to put MAGAism to bed.

I had not ever contemplated a failed assassination attempt, but if I think about it, I do think I could make the argument that it is slightly worse for America in general than a successful assassination. All the downside of an assassination, plus Trump is still around.

(Read: I do not condone the attempt or assassination in general. And I’m not saying I wish the attempt had been successful. I do not. I’m just saying that I do think you can make the case that an emboldened Trump is worse for America than no Trump. That’s all I’m saying. But really my main point is that this is not the way to defeat MAGAism. And this probably just set the defeat MAGAism movement another 20 years).

He showed toughness and resolve instead of mumbling and forgetfulness. I don’t like Trump but he’s showing himself to be a much better leader than Biden given his reaction. Remember when W got praised for not wearing a bullet proof vest when he threw out the first pitch in the first NY baseball game after 9/11. Projecting strength is a good thing in leaders.
