It's a silly expectation. Wishful thinking vs reasonable expectations grounded in the real world. Do you honestly think it reasonable to expect people to vote straight party ticket for a party that holds policy positions they vehemently disagree instead of selectively voting for people who aren't Trump and agree with their policy positions? Come on.

I only said it was true-- not that it was a reasonable expectation.Originally posted by USUC View Post

Unfortunately, similar logic predicts most republican voters will vote for Trump in a general election. When the choice is binary and a voter supports most republican policies, the average republican voter will likely vote for Trump.Originally posted by USUC View Post

Sure, this will undoubtedly be true for those that identify as Republicans in the party today. This wasn't the case in 2016. But again, the GOP is a smaller party today.Originally posted by Northwestcoug View PostUnfortunately, similar logic predicts most republican voters will vote for Trump in a general election. Case in point: NBC/Des Moines Register poll said that 43% of the republicans who voted for Haley yesterday said they would vote for Biden over Trump in a head-to-head matchup.

Of course, but that doesn't negate the probability that most GOP voters will still vote for Trump.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
