Chris Christie hanging it up. He needs to beg his donors and followers to support Haley. She has the best shot. Down to single digits in NH and Christie has 12% there."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

OK he has my admiration now. I still thought there was a chance that he would drop out and find some way to support Trump. No way he can do it now."...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. If Christie is suspending his campaign, that means it's safe for me to vote for him in the upcoming caucus. None of the clowns deserve the vote, but some deserve an active vote against, so the real question was how to participate in the Republican caucus without voting for someone with a chance to win.Originally posted by USUC View Post

I don't see how him suspending his campaign changes your calculus, based on your parameters.Originally posted by LVAllen View Post

There are five options in the Nevada caucus: Ryan Binkley, Christie, DeSantis, Ramaswamy, and Trump. None of the Above isn't available. A write-in candidate isn't available. My original intent was to caucus for Ryan Binkley as a protest vote. He's a horrible person who doesn't deserve to be within 500 miles of the White House. Like the others, he paid the NV GOP $55,000, so he gets to be on the Nevada caucus roll. But he has the benefit of being someone who would absolutely lose in a general election, plus if he pulls like 2.5% of the caucus vote, he get a delegate whether or not he wants it at the national convention. Christie has the same benefits now, plus I may actually be able to convince folks to vote for him as a protest vote.Originally posted by Copelius View Post

Of course, where the caucus will happen is still kind of up in the air. The Las Vegas Sun is reporting that, despite announcing all of the different sites, 32/38 are local schools and, well, it doesn't appear the GOP has actually secured the schools yet. For at least a couple of the schools, athletic events are happening at the same time, so my money is that they won't be allowed to use the schools then.

Haley opted to file for the primary, 2 days before.Originally posted by Pelado View Post
Haley didn't pony up?
See, to make things easier, to encourage participation, the Legislature enacted a law to hold a primary during presidential election years. NVGOP Chair Michael McDonald argued against passage of the bill, but ultimately noted that it should increase participation.
Then his master came calling. McDonald is full-throatedly pro-Trump, to the point of fraudulently pretending to be a presidential elector and submitting fraudulent documents to the Archivist in an attempt to convince Congress to accept an alternate slate of electors from Nevada, an act that has gotten him indicted. Well, it was thought that a primary favored DeSantis, and a caucus, with participation confined mostly to the party fanatical, favored Trump. So Nevada GOP changed its rules to allow for a caucus, and sued the state to clarify its right to caucus. The state was like, whatever, man. NVGOP ALSO passed a rule that anyone who filed for the primary couldn't participate in the caucus.
So Nikki Haley filed for the Feb 6 primary. She will likely win, because noone else of any note is on the ballot. She'll get a publicity pop, and the delegates will be figured out two days laster, after the caucus, when noone else is paying attention to Nevada anymore except to wonder how on earth the GOP apparatus could be this incoherent and incompetent.
The NV Democratic party wins here for 2 reasons. 1st, a registration advantage in Clark County (Las Vegas) and Washoe County (Reno). Most of the cow counties with like 10000 people each are staunchly Republican. Second, they haven't been playing against an opponent.
