This is pretty much where I am as well. I feel like I'd like to vote for Chris Christie, but the GOP has to show that they've changed before they get any more votes from me. Mitt and Cox are the exceptions for me.

You know, there is another option: the Libertarian candidate. Someday y'all will realize candidates from both the GOP'ers and Dems are just not worth voting for.

The leading candidates in both of the main parties suck. Drumpf will be running his campaign from a jail cell but may be sharing it with G'pa Biden. Maybe they can bring the cameras in so they can put their debate on TV.

It would be kind of interesting to see a debate with cameras in both prison and the rest home.

He has shown that he is much more extreme-- especially after his 2020 loss-- than anybody thought reasonable. He will get murdered.
Trump is one significant senior Biden moment or health scare away from demoralizing the independents and making the election way too close for comfort. I agree this time around he will likely not win. But I am still nervous for the next couple of years.

Sounds like a great option. Please direct me to the non-crazy libertarian so I can vote for them.

A moderate political candidate in this day and age? You must be joking.

              • I am digging what Chris Christie is selling these days. I am not sure he can win, but I admire his strategy. Just go all in on the dump trump message and see what happens.

One of things I worry about is GOP state legislatures ignoring the voters in their states and sending their own electors. That's one of those lines that everyone has always assumed would never be crossed, but I stopped believing in uncrossable lines a long time ago.

I was curious, so I added it up. 212 electoral votes nest with states that have GOP controlled legislatures. 223 electoral votes nest with states that have DEM controlled legislatures. 103 votes nest with states that have split control.

That said, I think it's unlikely a rogue legislature moves the needle. I'm sure the DEMs will be watching with plans of their own to overcome any election shenanigans.

If anything, it might help get the ball rolling. So he's doing the whole GOP a favor that no one else with his profile has been willing to do.

We should all note a dollar to his campaign so he can meet the 40K donor threshold to qualify for the debate. Can you imagine him debating trump? It would be glorious. But I doubt trump would allow it to happen. He's a yuge snowflake.

I got a text from Christie's campaign asking for a donation for that exact reason and I started filling it out. Then I realized I don't want all the texts and emails to flood in, so I abandoned the idea.

This. If I could get them to put me on a do not contact list, I'd actually donate.

I reserved a bunch of tickets to a Trump rally a few years ago so I could not show up and leave a bunch of empty seats for the cameras. In exchange, I have been receiving a daily Trump Grift email, which is usually pretty entertaining. It was kind of a win-win for me.
