The only thing memorable about Red Hills is the par 5, which is only a par 5 because it takes about a 145 degree dog-leg left at about 250 yards. If you could get a 7 iron high enough to go over the cliff to the left of the tee box, you could drive the green. Unfortunately, it appears to be physically impossible, as the tee box is just a little too close to the cliff.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

Seven of my golf buddies and I are headed for Vegas. WE are playing Legacy Monday and Dragon Ridge Tuesday.
One of my friends and I are flying in tomorrow. Donuthole has been kind enough to set us up and play a round with us tomorrow. Thanks Donut.

Sounds fun. Donut is known to bring enough cans of soda for himself, so go prepared.Originally posted by byu71 View PostSeven of my golf buddies and I are headed for Vegas. WE are playing Legacy Monday and Dragon Ridge Tuesday.

I actually brought my own bottles of soda, this time. But I was alone in my cart, so byu71 was none the wiser.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostSounds fun. Donut is known to bring enough cans of soda for himself, so go prepared.
71 and I both got out to rough starts, posting 47 and 48 respectively on the front (which was really the back) 9. I think I had 3 3-putts, not to mention a number of chunky approach shots and a really embarrassing duff off the tee on one hole. 71's buddy was making us look pretty foolish with his 38.
On the back 9, I caught fire, and began striping the ball with the driver and putting reasonably well. This lead to several wedge shots into the greens, and several birdie chances (and sadly, tap-in pars). I posted a 39 on the back, finishing with a not terrible but not great 87, and beating 71 by a couple strokes.
My shot of the day came on a long par 3, where I missed the green with my tee shot and ended up left behind a 15' tree. I flopped a perfect shot up and over the tree, which rolled to within inches of the cup. Up until that point I was 9 over through 5, so that really helped me turn my day around.
71's shot of the day was a rescue club from 200 out on a 450 yard par 4. He crushed it, and played a slight draw rolling it to within about 10 feet.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

How kind of Donuthole to say he beat me by a couple of strokes. I don't know the exact number, but it felt like a couple of zillion. Very impressed with the Donutman's play after the first couple of holes. His flop shot on the par 3 was truly impressive.Originally posted by Donuthole View PostI actually brought my own bottles of soda, this time. But I was alone in my cart, so byu71 was none the wiser.

What a deal. Very nice course and he got us on for $35.
I told my friend Donut was a young guy with a hippie beard and hair. What a dissapointment. Donut shows up clean shaven with a nice haircut.
It was a great trip except for the cold and wind on Monday. Played a real tough course in howling wind and managed to shoot a 93. Tuesday much better, shot an 82. I think the age is catching up to me. Days of low 70's maybe gone forever. It's tough having to hit a rescue club into a hole and then going up and watch Donut hit a wedge into the green.

Which course did you play on Monday? Also, was it a net gain or a net loss for the "tourney?"Originally posted by byu71 View PostIt was a great trip except for the cold and wind on Monday. Dragon Ridge in Monday's wind is a nightmare. Lots of water on the front, and no room for error on the back.A 93 is pretty impressive under those conditions.Originally posted by byu71 View PostWe played Dragon Ridge. Net gain was $38.

So I absolutely slayed Cedar Hills today. I shot a 39 on the front and a 41 on the back. The worst part is I left a ton of shots out there. I was putting for birdie on the first 4 holes and 3 putt bogeyed all of them. I then ran off a streak of 4 pars in a row before finishing with a birdie on 9. The back nine was more of the same except I did have a double after going OB.
We got done just as the rain hit, good times as we had the course to ourselves.*Banned*

At the suggestion of my wife I have decided to become semi-serious about golf again. 4 years ago I was a single digit handicap, then between kids and church I started going out only 4-5 times a year and became a bogey duffer. Today I went and hit several different irons. I figured I would like either the Pings or Titleist since I have played both in the past, but was surprised how well I was hitting the new Cleveland CG7 Irons. I have always loved Cleveland wedges but have no other experience with their clubs. Has anyone here tried them before?

I've got a set of TA6's that I think are great. Never tried that particular iteration.
Went to the range and hit a few balls today. First time out in 2010. Felt pretty good. There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.
Tila Tequila and Juggalos, America’s saddest punchline since the South.
Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
Today is Friday, Friday (Partyin’)
…
Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes afterwards

You shouldn't be surprised at how well you were hitting them. Most people have a negative stigma about Cleveland irons because they have a reputation for being difficult to hit, which stems from the fact that, up until recently, Cleveland's name came primarily from its forged blades (which are, indeed, more difficult to hit). However, with Cleveland's full venture into the cast and forged-cavity-backs, there is no reason to expect they won't be great, and just as forgiving as any other brand.Originally posted by Art Vandelay View PostAt the suggestion of my wife I have decided to become semi-serious about golf again. 4 years ago I was a single digit handicap, then between kids and church I started going out only 4-5 times a year and became a bogey duffer. I have a forged-cavity-back 56-deg CG-14 wedge from Cleveland, and I absolutely love it.
