Who is this Kafentzis kid at Jordan High?

Damn. Not a bad start to your high school career as a FRESHMAN!

I know nothing about this kid other than what I read about his age, stats and the game winning TD toss.

Fremont is no pushover. They aren't Bingham, but they are one of the better programs in the state this year. Or they were supposed to be.

Anyone out there know anything about this kid or the family? Do they lean one way or another as far as loyalties?

What's wrong with Lindsay? Everyone here seems to be trying to push him off on the other side. I read somewhere that he was the #2 recruit in Utah (behind Hinds). Is that ranking wrong?

BYU didn't want him anyway.

He's a huge body without a ton of motivation or drive. Limited skills.

He has a body that could allow him to be an elite player, but there are guys like that at DIAA schools, too.

I'm guessing there is hope that he gets thrown into the college regimen with teammates that expect the most and he will respond.

He's a project with potential.

I have also talked to people that cover Utah recruiting.

The recurring thing I've heard is that the kid has HUGE potential, but it's going to take some polish. He is not ready for prime-time, but he has a lot of upside.

My brother in law coached him last year in the 8th grade. Said he is the most humble, hard working kid he has ever seen. He is close to 6 feet already and has some big time potential. He also told me that he was the fastest kid on their team last year. I asked him if he grew up cheering for BYU or Utah and my BIL said he wasn't sure.

In all honesty he may turn out to be a great player for the Utes, but if he wanted to play any time soon leaving BYU was the best thing for him. Especially with the log jam BYU has at tight end.

Maybe you are right that he will get more playing time at Utah, there is certainly less competition at the TE spot at Utah. However, it isn't like all these hyped TEs for BYU last year were all that impressive. Maybe the TEs at BYU will live up to the hype this year because there is certainly a lot of talent there. Murphy had a shot to play at BYU.

Last year BYU TEs as a group had 28 receptions, 355 yards, 0 TDs. Right now they are all hype, no production.

In no way was I saying that Murphy was not good enough to play tight end at BYU. But there is a lot more talent at the position on the BYU roster than Utahs.

They already moved Muehlman who was ranked the same as Murphy to D-end. Obviously star ratings don't mean much but at least on paper Murphy would have been buried. Not to mention he would have grey shirted last year while all of these guys solidify their spots. He would have had a definite uphill battle ahead of him.
