Why? I'd rather Apo stay at BYU instead of coming to the Pac-12."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."

Heaps shouldnt have quit. His quitting makes no sense given that he'll still sit out a year with a transfer and will likely face very stiff competition to get a starting job.
His transferring only means one thing, he lost the trust of the coaching staff and teammates. He obviously knew that even if he sat around for a year that it's likely the team might not embrace him fully. Transferring must have been his only real option.
I'm not a chicken little. BYU will be fine and I predict Nelson starts all games next year. I think hes learned to not take on LBers, similar to Beck, and hopefully he st arts sliding when he knows he doesn't need an extra yard or two."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I have zero sympathy for Heaps.
My dad gave me that same speech.

If that's the low point of BYU football in the modern era then you haven't been a fan for very long or don't know shit. Or both.Originally posted by Viking View PostThis, folks, was the low point of BYU football in the modern era. Today is a good day.

Let's face it. At the end of the day Jake is a self entitled pussy. He expected everything to be handed to him without having to fight hard to win it or keep it. I think he lost most of the locker room after the Ole Miss game when he did not try to tackle the DB after throwing the pick 6.
He then lost the rest of the locker room after the Utah State game where he played terrible and Riley came in and bailed him out. His peers and everyone saw the difference. Riley might not have the same god given talent as Heaps but he has way way way more heart and a large pair of cantaloupes.
Heaps clearly lacks leadership and by quitting now just proves that it was never about the team and always about him. I doubt KVN or Apo care too much and I guess we all should go back and ask O'Neill Chambers for forgiveness. I think O'Neill was right about Jake the whole time when he boxed up his locker.
I would be surprised if Heaps stays on the West Coast. He might want to but ultimately I think he goes east.

These were the tweets from Cougarstats:Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostCougarstats had something the other day that said among BYU QB's to pass for a certain number of yards or attempts (can't remember which) in their careers, he had the 4th lowest INT%.
Throwing picks wasn't his biggest problem by any stretch.
Of #BYU QBs with at least 1,000 career passing yards, Jake Heaps has the 4th lowest INT% (2.7%) in BYU history.
Of Jake Heaps' last 16 drives, 11 have been for a TD, 1 was a missed FGA, 2 ended with punts and the other two with interceptions."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

All of you guys calling Jake a pussy and quitter make no sense. The easiest road back to becoming a starting QB for Jake was at BYU. He was guaranteed to redshirt next year and start for 2 years at BYU.
By transferring he is actually making things more difficult for himself. He is redshirting either way whether he stays or goes but now he has to learn a new offense and compete for the starting job after his redshirt season.
Clearly it is not competition he is worried about otherwise he would have stayed at BYU redshirted next year and taken the easy way back to becoming a starting QB.*Banned*

I thought that he could just burn his RS and not sit, esp. since we no longer have conference affiliation.Originally posted by Moliere View PostHeaps shouldnt have quit.
