Also putting Pac-12 stickers on your car (with no Ute affiliation anywhere in sight), painting the Pac-12 logo on your loan, and making a shrine to worship Larry Scott is all a bit odd.
Hey now. I have no issues with this behavior. The man saved Utah football from the wasteland of FBS obscurity.

On the other hand, I refuse to buy anything with the PAC-12 logo. I am a Utah Man, not a PAC-man (*rim shot*).

    • It's turned out to be a tough year to join the PAC-12; several teams are pretty strong this year. Furthermore, Utah's conference schedule appears, at least at this point in the season, to have been greatly front-loaded. Utah's first three conference opponents are a combined 9-2 in conference and a combined 15-4 overall. The remaining conference opponents are a combined 5-16 in conference and a combined 13-26 overall.

      • interesting stat: so far this year, Utah's defense has yet to give up a play longer than 40 yards.

The same could be said of special teams, had Utah's kick off team not resorted to the bounce approach of tackling.

Where did you hear that? I ask because it's not true.

They gave up a 47-yard pass in the 4th quarter against Montana St, and they also gave up a 49-yard run to Chris Polk in the 3rd quarter.

This team has one glaring weakness. One gigantic glaring weakness. Quarterback. 3INTs, and (until that last garbage drive) 90 yards passing.

Of course, what do you expect? the kid was at a tiny school that cancelled their football program. It's not his fault. He is what he is; very limited; he was where he was for a reason. I bet Whit is telling himself he'll never get in this position again--a fragile quarterback just off of shoulder surgery, and the depth so thin that they had to go grab this panic pickup.

              • considering that the PAC-12 is an offense first conference, maybe Whitt needs to tweak his philosophy a little bit?

We are constantly hearing about how Utah recruits QB's and turns them into LB's and DE, but you rarely hear about players switching from defense to offense. Whitt's all about putting your best (most athletic players) 11 players on D, maybe it's time to relook at that and balance it out a little more. No doubt, if Robles had stayed at QB and had gotten some reps at that position, he would have fared better than he did against CAL. He might have even won the job as the backup vs. Hays in the fall.

I have loved Utah’s defense, and do want to maintain that consistency, but maybe there needs to be a shift in becoming a little more offensive minded.

Considering that he couldn't beat out Shreve in the spring, that seems unlikely.

                  • Did I hear correctly today that LB Boo Anderson is out for the season? What happened?

he went down in the first half of the CAL game, I believe it was a knee injury

Lobbestael has played most of the season anyway. Not sure how much this really means.

                          • Utes game in Tucson against Arizona will not be on any local TV in Utah, what a damn shame, probably FS Arizona being greedy as hell. Oh well, guess I will have to stick to Fox Sports Arizona to watch it since I do have the sports regional package.

It is probably good news for the Utes that the number of people that can see the game is limited. We don't need to increase the number of people that can see us get blown out.

The pac12 denied kjzz request to broadcast it. Pac12 tv deal is pretty sweet.
