I don't think I'm getting screwed. I do think the fans that go to the games and pay for tickets and donate should be given consideration in this stuff instead of every great game being a road or neutral one.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI think if you could divorce yourself of the notion that there is a tradeoff between exposure/BYUTV and the home schedule; and that you are not really a victim of being sold down the road you would be happier.
Here is the reality: TCU and Utah left the MWC. BYU did not get an invite to the Big Boy Club. BYU was going to face the reality of a shitty home schedule no matter what they did. It was entirely unavoidable. It had nothing to do with BYU wanting to screw those of us who buy season tickets. It was the circumstances BYU could not avoid. When facing these circumstances the administration elected to go independent not because of BYUTV and screwing you, but because Independence made, in totality, the best of a real shitty situation- often however the best of a real shitty situation is still really shitty. It did not make the situation good and perhaps Holmoe should be more honest with the fans, but look at the good what Mendenhall's honesty about the dorky fans does for him I still think Jay Santos feels like he is being punched in the babymaker the moment Bronco's alarm goes off at an entirely too late hour in the day for a head FBS football coach, about the reality of the shitty situation. What Independence seems to bring, to me, is more money and a better road schedule than BYU would have in the MWC while the home schedule seems to be about status quo. It also seems to make BYU fans whine and they never seemed to do that much before!
If we have a schedule like we have this upcoming year every few years, I will be happy with it. It's better than the MWC, but there's something to be said for games against traditional foes as well. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

I don't really think it's a great idea to associate with the MWC on the off chance that we could get in to a BCS game here and there. I think we've gained a lot more with independence than associating with them would bring.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostBCS games
There's been times that I wished we could be part of that league, but with how it's constructed now, I don't think that would be ideal. Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

Tell you what the day I see a BYU team that I think deserves that and is screwed I will join you in stringpulling. Legally isn't this stringpulling of yours without standing...or something like that?Originally posted by Flystripper View PostBCS games
Let me be clear, I think a BYU team that goes undefeated and obviously deserves a BCS bowl game will get a BCS invite.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

I will say this again. The MWC allows us to play traditional foes thereby increasing regional rivalries and fan interest in pursuit of a conference championship. It provides access to a meaningful post season which increases interest in years when BYU is good. As a conference member we still have 4 out of conference games every year to schedule a big time match-ups. Given how Boise was treated when they returned to the MWC, it is likely BYU could get media rights concessions from the conference. How is the MWC a bad thing again? Please remind me.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI don't really think it's a great idea to associate with the MWC on the off chance that we could get in to a BCS game here and there. The point is I don't think there is a lack of consideration. Many posts seem to suggest that BYU has picked the good road schedules, BYU TV and games on ESPN at the expense of a good home schedule because that type of exposure is more important to the administration than interesting home games. I think the reality is BYU can't get that many good home games. I think if they could they would. I think the hyping up the exposure and ESPN games is a way to make some lemonade out of the situation but some BYU fans take the angle that there was a conscious choice to seek after these things at the expense of the home schedules. I don't buy that. But I do not have a closely shorn scrotum.Originally posted by The_Douger View PostI don't think I'm getting screwed. If the current scenario sucks the scenario that includes BYU as a member of the MWC also sucks - certainly by the indicator of the quality of home schedules.Originally posted by Flystripper View PostI will say this again. I don't know but it seems to me that attending church regularly ensures a higher level of testicular fortitude. Is it just me but are the progmos/golfing on sunday crowd more afflicted with stringpullingitis than those of who sing with such fervent accord about some who push and some who pull?! That is right bitches...just talking about going uphill makes you more a man and it will trickle down to how you approach BYU sports!Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostObviously.
