While it doesn't seem great to me, I don't see a down side to going back to the MWC at this point, with the stipulation that BYU gets the same deal that Boise St has.

We can get the same exposure with the BSU deal. We can still have ESPN looking out for us. We can still have games on BYUTV. We can still bring in one or two good teams to LES for non-conference games. I think the old mtn. contract was hurting our ability to schedule the last few years in the MWC. That wouldn't be the case if we went back.

Besides all these same benefits, we would also have access to the playoff/BCS bowls, consistent conference foes, and a conference championship. Let's not forget a better basketball league as well.

Independence made sense when we went that route. There wasn't any other option. We needed to be flexible while the conference landscape was changing. But today the future playoff picture has solidified and conference expansion is winding down. It is pretty clear that an invite to the Big 5 is no where in sight and being in a conference won't make a difference for that anyways. So it's time to kiss and make up with the MWC.

It's easier to get 4 great games with 12 open spots than it is to get 4 great games with 4 open spots. The flexibility of independence means we can play good teams whenever they want to play us.

When you look at what's on the schedule already, and compare it to the MWC home schedules, I don't get the complaining. Unless you're assuming all the remaining spots will be filled with Idaho, Eastern Illinois, and other directional schools. But then that's just speculation, isn't it?

Agreed. I don't think Stanford or Arizona deserve a 2/1. Or neutral closer to them.

I'm hoping for a neutral in Vegas. Stanford would be a good candidate for that.

                  That would be fun.

I could live with that. I like that the games are close and easily accessible in places like Phoenix or the Bay area.

I'm not really OK with home and home with USU, but if we do, it needs to be November. We've had that conference weekend tradition, but that's early enough in the season we could do better with that spot.

Two games on conference weekend and two games thanksgiving weekend.

And that's why we did it. Added a game in Logan to the current series in exchange for moving the games to November. I'm not convinced that Utah State is going to continue to win, but the change gives us another (hopefully) interesting game to bolster the November schedule and it frees up an early October slot that is much easier to fill with a quality opponent.

I'm fine with a home and home series with USU...if we give the UofU a 2:1.

                              • I just don't see who will fill in the holes with the uneven deals we've been giving out. USU was one of the teams that could make up the difference. I don't care about playing USU on rivalry weekend. They aren't our rival.
