You're right. It is COUGAR (first) then Ute (second) forum. Utes are fine to contribute, but should only do so AFTER Cougars have given the definitive word. If you can't deal with that, you should start up UteCougarForum. Last I checked the domain is available. Good luck!

It's not equal at all. For every 3 BYU fans here, there is 1 Ute fan. That's not a fair fight for the Cougars. Who agreed to that?

Also, Cougar is 6 characters. Ute is 3. It's probably not totally fair being slanted towards the Y, but it'll have to do.

I thought this was the only lame thing in the article.

Although money is a huge factor in all this, I believe ego was the driving force behind the timing of the decision to pursue football independence. Once BYU saw Utah head to Pac-10, school and church officials took a We’ll show you approach. Now they’ll exhaust every option before agreeing to slink back into the MWC.

the truth is that if the only expansion this summer was Boise coming to the WAC then there would be none of this independence talk. Boise comes over, the Utes staying put virtually guarantees the conference of an automatic BCS bid. However, since Utah has gone to the PAC, the MWC has virtually no chance of getting one.

So, in the present scenario, it's not that BYU has a "We'll show you attitude" it's that they are in an extremely undesirable scenario and they want to better their situation. I don't see it as BYU's ego that's driving this, but a survival of the fittest mentality. If they stick with the crappy tv contract that the MWC has with no improved access to the BCS (which is really more about the cash than the game itself) they will fall behind other programs of their caliber.
