So 5 million for local rights, another 4-6 million from ESPN (I know, but enough sources have quoted an ESPN source on this, that the number is certainly ballpark) then 1-2 million in gravy money. Looks like a 8 figure deal to me. Hell that is close to half the money that the MWC is paying out to 9 schools.

The ESPN number has been as high as $8M. Note that the Big 12 paid their lower tier teams $8.7M and their higher tier teams $15.4M in 2008-2009. I have wonder if BYU has proven their value to Dan Beebe yet.

It isn't about the money, it is about exposure. KJZZ can't reach the number of homes KBYU can. KJZZ deal will be turned down and it will be put on for free on KBYU.

This is a tricky spot for both BYU and the MWC. The best short term situation for BYU would be to go independent in football and play all other sports in the MWC. I'm not sure if TCU or the other top programs would be ok with this. So what is better for the MWC, BYU in non-football sports only or no BYU at all?

If the 11th place team had not been from a conference with 2 BCS bids, and therefore ineligible, Boise St would have been shut out just like they were the year before when they were ranked 9th.

Some attention needs to be given to the MWCCommish the MWCCommish twitter feed.

                    Some highlights:

I'm making offers to BYU that are hard to refuse: rebroadcast rights, locks of my hair, and I'll meet with the their missionaries.
Ever woken up hung over and asked yourself, "We added WHO to our conference?!" No more liquor allowed in the MWC offices.
I make great efforts to protect the MWC from overexposure. We don't want just anyone watching us. The Mtn is our SPF-50 sunscreen.

Aw, it's all OK. These are tense times. I did not mean to get under anyone's skin. And I have now forgiven myboynoah. I'm sure that means a lot to him, that miserable ....

I especially liked the SPF-50 comment. Very creative.

You are probably right. MRD, you are probably physically incapable of sticking your head as far up your ass as I had previously indicated. I am sorry for implying your extreme flexibility. As a token of my sincerity, I retract my prior statement and in it's place use the phrase "douchenozzle." I hope this is acceptable to both you and tooblue.
