Statman's been saying this all along as well - $10+ million. And it's more like 90% of what the MWC pays out to its nine members. Figure that Utah as a MWC member was worth about half the TV $$$ that BYU was, and BYU & Utah as individual schools quickly EXCEED the payout that the MWC was sinding our way. In a nutshell, BYU & Utah were media money makers in the MWC, the rest LOST THE CONFERENCE MONEY. And yeah, I'd lump TCU into that group - they couldn't even sell out their own wee stadium...Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostSo 5 million for local rights, another 4-6 million from ESPN (I know, but enough sources have quoted an ESPN source on this, that the number is certainly ballpark) then 1-2 million in gravy money. Looks like a 8 figure deal to me. Hell that is close to half the money that the MWC is paying out to 9 schools.
The MWC is a really bad place to hang your hat...

I've come to the conclusion that Comcast sucks and is a horrible partner interested more in control than on growth. You might be able to group CBS in there as well.Originally posted by statman View PostStatman's been saying this all along as well - $10+ million. Even though personally I love the game times and the fact that I get the channel, the mtn.'s situation is horrible. There's no reason the conference shouldn't be making its distributors money.

In some ways it seems to me the deep love of national approval is a lot more important to others than it is me. I just want the teams I root for to win the games they play in. I would prefer those games be more relevant, but part of me really wonders if in a decade or two suddenly being loved, and winning 8 games in a really good year, might not be as inspiring as running up the score against WYO.Originally posted by Solon View PostHey guys, can we cool the personal attacks? I can understand emotions getting high about the actuall play on the field, but I just don't buy that the conference affiliation is going to bring to pass such wonderful fruit. I am skeptical either team enjoys the consistent success, or even the pinnacle highs, it has enjoyed.

I was going to ask Statman if he had been listening to old Karl Malone interviews to start doing this. Maybe HFN's mom taught him how to do this.
