When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I just think it's cute when you attempt to talk about sports.

          Sticks and stones.

I'm the only one who has said from the beginning and consistently that BYU will never be invited to a major conference. I've been right, everyone else here has been wrong.

That reminds me of the time I predicted to my friends that Michael Jordan was superhuman and would never die. They all said he would. So far, I've been right and everyone else has been wrong.

Hell will freeze over, or the Prophet will publicly and explictly apologize to AAs, gays, women, Native Americans, and any professor fired from BYU for what he or she wrote or taught, and agree to play on Sunday, before BYU will be invited to a major conference. Write it down.

Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.

Everyone else here thought BYU would be invited? I don't remember it that way. I suspect you are not counting the Big East as a major conference. Neither do I.

                  • The ACC signs a grant of rights and effectively ends conference expansion for at least 12 years.

No reason for Big12 to expand now.

BYU will be indy for some time.

Maybe. We'll have to see what happens over the next 12 years.

You may be right. But I also have a feeling of "the longer BYU stays in the MWC the worse I feel about it."

I'm not sure which is the right way to feel. Really, staying in the MWC was a loser prospect. Going independent may end up being a loser prospect. But it has a chance to be more than what staying in the MWC would've been.

Yes, mods don't be deleting this thread any time soon. We'll need it in about 12 years.

I've said it before, but I prefer indy over the MWC, at least in football. Our schedule is just as good in some years and much better in others (this year is one of those years) and we get to play a lot of different teams. It would be nice to develop some decent new rivalries, and hopefully that will happen.

I guess I like it though because I'm a road tripper. I like to visit new stadiums and cities. i also don't live in Provo so I don't care about the home schedule as much.

And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

                            • 2014 is another home schedule that's not that great. This year we seemed to get a lot of games coming at once, but I wish we could have worked it out so Utah and Boise were on alternating years.

I don't like the idea of being independent long term.

I agree that being in a conference is more interesting. Seeing what the standings are, being interested in how other teams are doing who play each other because it effects your team's position, etc. all have added enjoyment to me in the past.

I used to watch all of the BYU games, follow some of the other MWC games when a couple of teams in the top half were playing or even check in and if the scores were close watch for an upset. Then I'd also watch some of the big national games between highly ranked teams. It seemed like there was always a game on that had some interest for me. The past couple of years I've found myself less and less interested in games - which I suppose on the bright side has left more time for other things.
