      Which is more plausible, that Holmoe is telling the truth and no offer (or anything approaching a firm offer) was given, or that the B12 presented an acceptable offer to BYU (in other words, the B12 gets everything it could possibly want, but no Sunday play) but BYU turned it down. Even as a Ute fan I think highly enough of Holmoe to believe that the former is much more likely.

        I don't think we had an offer. I think we could have had one, but our admin, not Holmoe, overplayed their hand.

        I have no evidence. It's just my opinion.

        We would get our asses handed to us in the B12 anyways and take 8th or worse every year.
        Will donate kidney for B12 membership.

          I agree that the past few years, we would have been awful in the Big XII. But most years, I think we could secure 7 to 9 wins, 10 wins with a team similar to the 2006 team.

                  If it was a 12 team league, that might be close to the truth. In a 10 team league, I would say 6th or worse just about every year.

                    I would say 4th to 8th with an average of 6th. 2-3 years BYU would get to a bowl and deserve the bowl trip once every 3rd year.

                    I do think that if BYU were in the Big-12 it would be able to recruit JCs much better to provide better players at the positions it is historically thin. It wouldn't be a huge upgrade as BYU is still BYU and its recruiting base is what it is, but I think BYU would be able to land a few more of the blue chip LDS kids they miss and get better non-LDS players at the defensive backfield and offensive skill positions.

                    In good years BYU would go 8-4 or perhaps 9-3 and be ranked about 15-20. In not so good years BYU would do well to go 6-6. I do think BYU would see about 2-4 below .500 years per decade.
