"The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."
"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."
"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."
I actually finished reading all of that. I now have a brain tumor.
No one polishes a turd quite like Greg Wrubell
"In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. What a great thing it is" - Northwestcoug
"And you people wonder why you've had extermination orders issued against you." - landpoke
"Can't . . . let . . . foolish statements . . . by . . . BYU fans . . . go . . . unanswered . . . ." - LA Ute
That was as good an article as the "voice of the cougars" could actually write and still be the "voice of the cougars". I have nothing against him expressing his opinion of course, but only suggest anyone who reads it should read it the same way they would read an article on Obama's successes written by Hillary Rosen.
I would accept even Dick Harmon writing an article declaring bias against our religion or Sunday play is what is keeping us out of say the BIG 12. I buy it when discussing the PAC 12.
Until proven otherwise, I think the problem is BYU thinks they are bigger than they really are and makes demands a conference looks at and says, "who do they think they are, God's team"?
"We don't intend to change; my job is to continue to uphold the values, beliefs and ideals of the school and the institution, and to win football games to help others understand those (values, beliefs and ideals). And if someone wants that, then great--if they don't, then we'll stand alone or stand as part of the Mountain West Conference in the meantime."
Ah yes. If we aren't in a big conference it has to be because we are being persecuted for our righteousness. But this is just more evidence of how special we are!
Comparing BYU to ND:
Both institutions are religiously-affiliated, of course, although Notre Dame places no restrictions on Sunday play.
Just like every other non-faith-based school.
Both schools have relatively high academic standards, and "honor codes" that are well-publicized (BYU's governs a wide array of student conduct; Notre Dame's is academically based).
Again, just like virtually every other school in the country.
Keep spinning, Greg. Keep spinning.
Geez, I can't believe I read that whole thing. I was shocked he didn't finish with "In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
"It's no secret that the great American pastime is no longer baseball. Now it's sanctimony." -- Guy Periwinkle, The Nix.

They just don't get how big a turn off it is for a lot of fans. The fall back is I guess they are seperating the wheat from the chaff (sp). The more this becomes about religion and not football, the more the program is going to dwindle in support.
I'm going to assume that anyone who agrees that the WCC is a nice fit for BYU is lying.
Maybe you are being sarcastic. I think there are some people who truly feel BYU is a nice fit for the WCC. I also think there are some sincere peole who feel BYU will be just fine being Independent and winning 10 games against crappy competition while preaching the gospel is good.
I personally think that doesn't give them the right to call people who disagree with that whiners, complainers or not true fans.
I think some people have the good sense to see the path we are on, as far as we know, will bring a dwindled support and enthusiasm for the program.
