This season sucks. It has killed my passion for not only BYU Sports, but sports in general. Hopefully the Stephen-Rogers led Hoops squad can restore it.

Maybe someone has mentioned this before but Notre Dame's athletic director Jack Swarbrick and DeLoss Dodds are very close. Very close.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostSomeone explain to me why ND would pick the Big 12 over the Big 10.
Some other reasons ND might pick the Big 12 over the B1G:
- The B1G has historically been made up of only AAU schools. Notre Dame is not an AAU member. (Nebraska has recently lost this status but is expected to get it back according to PBW.)
- The B1G pool all their tier 3 rights together and share equally which includes the Big Ten network. Notre Dame, being a team of high value, will most likely want to have their own network or something and not share.
- Notre Dame in the Big Ten would be like aTm in the SEC. It would be a tough conference to play in. Notre Dame would most likely fair better in the Big 12 especially if they were in the north division (essentially they would replace Nebraska).
- The B1G has made it pretty clear they are not interested in expanding right now and are happy with 12 teams."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

But isn't this all for NON-football, so what would it matter football wise about the Big 12 North? I don't think Notre Dame cares about having to share revenue outside of football.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostMaybe someone has mentioned this before but Notre Dame's athletic director Jack Swarbrick and DeLoss Dodds are very close. How about this counter. ND and Rutgers (yes you read that right) join the B1G. Then either Texas and Air force or Air Force and Hawaii (FB only) joine the PAC-12. The B1G makes and agreement with Pac-14 to schedule 2 games each year for each team (ND gets USC auto and switches yearly between air force, Stanford and Texas) and they have 8 game conference season. 8 pages back there was an article about Rutgers going to the B1G and the New york market getting the big ten network on basic cable. B1G would have an eastern division of (Penn st, Rutgers, Mich, Mich st Ohio st, ND & Pudue. Western Division of Indiana, Wisc, Minnesota, Northwestern, illinois Iowa and Nebraska.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostMaybe someone has mentioned this before but Notre Dame's athletic director Jack Swarbrick and DeLoss Dodds are very close. This works well for ND. Play all the teams they would have played anyway. In the New York Market. Make more money than indy."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. But the second-year Irish coach, simply out of necessity, wouldn't dismiss the notion Notre Dame could ditch its independent status and join a major conference in the future.
"You can't rule out anything with college football" said Kelly on "The Dan Patrick Show" Wednesday. "We have to be prepared for anything."
Kelly hinted if college football continues to move toward the 16-team superconference, Notre Dame may have no choice but to join up with a BCS conference."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Katz has been sorightwrong on many other things so take this for what it is worth...
Link: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/st...ek-source-saysMissouri's move to the Southeasten Conference was finished Friday, a source confirmed to ESPN.com on Saturday.
The Tigers' move from the Big 12 to the SEC is expected to be announced next week. The source said the SEC and Missouri opted to put off the announcement because they didn't want to upstage the LSU-Alabama football game Saturday night.

Missouri's move to the SEC in 2012 could mirror West Virginia's to the Big 12 in 2012 in its uncertainty. A source said Missouri could have trouble getting out of the Big 12 because the league isn't sure if it can get the Mountaineers in from the Big East next season."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Even if BYU wouldn't be in the plans for 12, why is the Big 12 so against expanding to 12 teams? I just don't get it, the only explanation is the "a championship game kills chances of one of our teams being in the NCG".Last edited by UtahJazzFan88; 11-05-2011, 11:09 PM.

Right now, it is a money issue. The Big 12 is not wanting to expand prior to the ESPN contract expiring in 2015, so they split the money 10 ways instead of 12 -- the contract is technically for 12 with a championship game, so the Big 12 can't renegotiate just for going back to 12 teams. Instead, when they negotiate a new Tier 1 contract, they will then look at adding 12.Originally posted by UtahJazzFan88 View PostEven if BYU wouldn't be in the plans for 12, why is the Big 12 so against expanding to 12 teams? BYU football: Collaboration kept TV streak alive
It sounds like this was probably the major hang-up with BYU to the Big 12. Not being able to broadcast BYU's third tier games on BYUtv was probably too much for Fox to ask. There was still one other obstacle to overcome — BYU wanted to air the game on BYUtv, which reaches 60 million households.
"In our contract with Fox, it does not permit an institutional telecast to go nationally," Lindberg said. "Those were issues we were dealing with that had to be worked out."
That's why the game was shown on KBYU instead of BYUtv, although the game was allowed to be replayed on BYUtv later that night.
This was great:
"The live broadcast on KBYU was the No. 1 in the Salt Lake market," Tittle said. "And the rebroadcast of the game was No. 2 in the market among college football games that Saturday. The numbers for the rebroadcast were almost identical to the live broadcast of the Utah game against Pittsburgh."Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
